pbs' surprising response to the use of file video of fireworks. thank you for staying with abc7 news. big story today. the f.b.i. investigation into hillary clinton's use of personal e-mail server in her tenure as secretary of state ends. scott: it was this weekend she was interviewed by the f.b.i. agents. today james comey personally announced his agency is not recommending criminal charges against the democratic party presumptive presidential nominee. megan hughes reports as the campaigning continuing. reporter: word from f.b.i. director james comey he is recommending hillary clinton face no charges for her use of a private e-mail server while secretary of state. >> no reasonable prosecutor would bring such a case. reporter: this the same day that hillary clinton and president obama headline a rally in charlotte. the first campaign stop together since the president gave his endorsement a month ago. clinton's troubles are far from over. comey had harsh words on how

on the f.b.i. sting. horace: 26-year-old mohamed jalloh made his first court appearance here in federal court in alexandria this afternoon. the f.b.i. had picked him up over the weekend after he purchased a.r.-15 rifle at chantilly gun store saturday night. they arrested him at his home in sterling on sunday. the f.b.i. was tipped off and told that jalloh wanted to pull off the fort hood style attack. he told the man he thought about carrying out an attack on u.s. soil. jalloh was born in israel but a naturalize -- he was born in sierra leone and was a member of the army national guard. coming up tonight at 6:00, we will tell you more about what turned jalloh and made

this is the video here that went viral last october. when it first came out. it was filmed inside a beauty salon in gaithersburg called blue mercury spa. you can see she dumped something in the water. and her attorney says she was not trying to kill her coworker but traying to get back to her. the two women were in a month-long fight and the day before lemonfield blamed cruz for spitting in her food. so she dumped the skin care lotion in the water as retaliation. here is what lemonfield's attorney had to say followed by the state attorney's office. >> it was stupid. she admits it. she did not mean to kill her. >> the judge saw fit sending a meag

michelle: "7 on your side" in health matters. virginia senator tim kaine is looking for a way to deal with the zika virus problem. he held a round table discussion today with public officials and says one thing that would help is if money was already in

deal with zika and ebola. >> these are more to be expected than things we should be surprised at. if that is the case maybe we should build in unanticipated infectious disease fund. michelle: the center for disease control says there are 27 confirmed zika cases in virginia. but in all of the cases the people contracted the virus overseas. meanwhile the researchers will study u.s. athletes in the summer olympics to better understand the zika virus. the study is being funded by the national institute of health. participants will be tested to help determine risk factors for infection. it will help researchers understand how long the virus stays in the body. scott: "7 on your side" consumer alert. the federal government is investigating complaints from ford explorer owners that exhaust is getting into the cabin of the s.u.

so far there have been 150 complaints. one driver says the odor caused a crash. although nobody was hurt. there has been no recall issued at this point but one is possible if the investigation determines it's necessary. owners say they smell exhaust gas when the s.u.v.'s were in full throttle. tesla is making vehicles too fast for its own good. not the speed. but the production ramped up 20% in the second quarter this year. more than 18,000 vehicles off the assembly line. the problem is 5,000 are still in transit. meaning the new owners are still waiting for them. time for a check of the traffic situation. jamie sullivan has details. jamie: we are starting off with an excellent on 95. if you're heading southbound we are okay. this is on the capital beltway near georgetown pike. all lanes are getting by. the activity in the shoulder. again, that is due to an earlier accident that was blocking lanes. it's good news we are moved

the side. still heavy traffic. 11-mile-per-hour. that is the average on the outer loop from maryland to virginia. the inner loop is heavy, too, heading northbound. continue closer to bethesda and silver spring. the big picture. not much to worry about. prince george's county you are okay. if you are traveling inbound on 395, no problem to cross the 14th street bridge as far as accidents. it's just the delays. a new project. at 10:00 on the southeast freeway between the 14th street bridge and the third street tunnel they will have the single and the double lane closures until 5:00 a.m. tomorrow. since this is a new project it's sunday through friday. so friday everything and saturday evening you don't have to worry about it. if you travel on metro we had single tracking on the orange line and now it's more mall service. back to you. michelle: thank you for the update. did you end up going out to the national mall for the fireworks last night?

that's what it is. the u.s. capitol scaffolding and all. last night in some of the shots the scaffolding was gone because it wasn't live. as workers today took apart the stage from last night's capitol fourth concert, questions grew about the show's producer's decision to ignore the reality experience by people actually on the mall. >> i thought if they were going to do that, they should have said they were doing it and not pretend it was live. >> tv viewers saw what randy of florida saw from his d.c. hotel room tv. out the window looking toward the mall his wife and grand children saw a different show. >> i was mostly out the window. my husband was watching in the room. he is the family skeptic. he said those are not the same fireworks. >> the tv, you could see the washington monument clear as day. there had been no clouds in

is a rare move for him. we posed the question. will the finding affect the way you vote come november? the numbers have been moving all afternoon. so far majority saying they are not changing their minds. 75% to 25%. michelle? michelle: an american college student reported missing in rome was found dead in a river. italian police now confirming there is a suspect in custody but medical examiner's are now tasked with finding out just how the young man died. 19-year-old american beau solomon killed in italy. his family and friends back home in wisconsin devastated. >> it was so hard to hear about that. your best friend. you didn't get to say goodbye to him. michelle: the student just arrived in rome for summer exchange program. the teen is a star athlete and a proud cancer survivor. >> over 15 to 20 procedures growing up throughout his life. and was able

of that. michelle: on monday solomon's body was found in rome's tiber river. less than three miles from the tourist destinations, including the coliseum. the teen found with a large head wound. without his wallet and cell phone. the credit card company said someone charged $1,500 on it. police are conducting interviews to piece together a timeline. >> everybody knew beau. i know that everyone will come together and support each other through this tough time. michelle: solomon was last seen early friday morning with a bar with a group of fellow students. when the friends decided to leave, they couldn't find him. when he didn't show up for orientation hours later his roommate alerted the school. so many unanswered questions. an autopsy is scheduled to determine the exact cause of death. we are told a 40-year-old homeless man is under arrest. but still no motive. scott? scott: all right. thank you, michelle. doug's back. doug, we

drive who was shot. police continue to search for the suspect. cheryl conner joins us from edmonston in prince george's county with the update on the drive. how is he doing? cheryl: he remains in critical condition. amazing he is alive. police tell us he was shot nine times. it happened in this parking lot where a few hundred ice cream trucks park daily. they pay to lease a spot here. several people complaining to us today about the security as people are able to come and go in this parking lot. tonight police want your help to find two suspects. >> we are learning more about the ice cream truck drive who was shot in a parking lot in edmonston monday night. >> i know his wife is pregnant. cheryl: charles ran from his business across the street. >> he said, "i think i'm going to die." that is what he told me. i said, "no, you're going to be okay." c

comcast but sold ice cream to make extra cash for his family here and back home in guinea, west africa. today prince george's county police updated the case. the victim who has not been named was shot several times monday night by two suspects who wanted to rob him. >> a victim in this manner who is trying to earn a living on a holiday, probably to provide for his family and these guys come up and shoot him nine times. that is unacceptable. cheryl: police tell us the cameras in the area did not capture the shooting. other ice cream truck drivers who lease a parking spot in the lot on buchanan street says minor crime has happened to them. >> for someone to follow him in the yard and shot him. we are all vendors. we move back and forth. we go out, you come in with money. unless you want to be protected. we don't have that protection. cheryl: the property owner has not returned our calls. drivers were going to the hospital to check on their friend. >> my heart goes out to his

cheryl: tonight police tell us they don't have a description of the vehicle that the suspect likely used to get away. they also tell us it's unusual for a problemry victim to be shot. now if -- for a robbery victim to be shot. if you know anything, heard about the shooting or saw last night, you are asked to call police. live in edmonston, cheryl conner, abc7 news. michelle: we are following breaking news from fairfax county, virginia. if you are traveling on route 50 there are going to be some major delays. because of a bank robbery there. eastbound arlington boulevard is shut down from the ramp to route 7. westbound arlington boulevard is shut down at patrick henry drive. right now that is all the information we have at this time. we are working to get more details. we'll get an update on the commute from jamie sullivan in a few minutes. d.c. police are investigating a deadly shooting involving a metro transit officer. police say the officer responded to a call at around 11:00
