making news in america this morning, a new investigation. hillary clinton tries to put her e-mail controversy behind her but word this morning of a push by republicans to keep the heat on the former secretary of state following the fbi's ruling. former olympian oscar pistorius is back in a south african court learning his fate for the murder of his girlfriend. severe storms rolling through the midwest causing big problems for this morning's commute. a child grabbed by a stranger with her mother just a few feet away. we have new details about the attempted kidnapping and the video. last night's mega millions jackpot, well, this morning's two-word headline, no winner, oh, yeah.

we do say good morning, everyone, on this wednesday. we'll start with the new developments overnight after the fbi's recommendation not to charge hillary clinton over the use of a private e-mail server. >> house republicans are planning to hold hearings on the decision now and that followed a year-long investigation. despite the lack of direct evidence against clinton fbi director james comey slammed her actions as extremely careless and also questioned her judgment and contradicted her claims that none of the e-mails contained classified information. abc's stephanie ramos has the latest on that. good morning, stephanie. >> reporter: good morning, it may have been one of her most successful days on the trump. hillary clinton dodging criminal charges in that e-mail investigation and campaigning with a sitting president by her side. >> fired up. >> all: fired up. >> i am -- i'm fired up. >> reporter: the commander in chief stumping for former first lady hillary clinton in front of nearly 10,000 people. >> there has never been

or woman more qualified for this office than hillary clinton. >> reporter: the former team of rivals making no mention of the investigation into clinton's private e-mail server use while she was secretary of state. soon after the fbi cleared her of any criminal charges. >> no reasonable prosecutor would bring such a case. >> reporter: reaction from donald trump almost immediate. >> i always felt that hillary clinton would escape criminal charges for her dangerous and illegal behavior. >> reporter: republicans like wisconsin governor scott walker swarming in. >> to me for those who raise concerns like i just did about the judgment of hillary clinton in terms of not just those e-mails but some of the over issues. >> reporter: walker announcing he'll speak in support of trump at the republican national convention in cleveland. this as anti-trump protesters plan a counterconvention outside. >> we worry that this city could turn into a war

>> reporter: and hillary clinton today holding an event in atlantic city where she plans to go after trump's business record. as for trump he'll be in cincinnati with former house speaker and possible vp candidate newt gingrich. kendis and diane, back to you. >> that's abc's stephanie ramos in washington, stephanie, thank you. more controversial words from trump. this time he's praising saddam hussein for having been tough on terrorism. he told supporters in raleigh, north carolina, that iraq has become the harvard for terrorism in the absence of its former dictator and lauded hussein's ruthlessness. >> saddam hussein was a bad guy, right? he was a bad guy, really bad guy but you know what he did well, he killed terrorists. he did that so good. >> well, house speaker ryan denounced those comments and the clinton camp responded to the latest comments saying it shows how dangerous trump would be as commander in chief. breaking news

pistorius is in court right now awaiting his sentence for the murder of his girlfriend on valentine's day three years ago. the form he olympic sprinter found guilty last december. initially he was sentenced to five years for manslaughter but a higher court then upgraded that conviction to murder. pistorius whose lower legs were amputated as a child even walked on his stumps last month to show his disability. his lawyers have argued it should be a factor in reducing his sentence. a french commission says the signs were there before the series of attacks in paris last year but they say intelligence officials just missed them. the commission was looking into the attacks on a satirical newspaper, kosher butcher shop and coordinated assaults in paris in november. all terrorists involved were known to french intelligence officials among the commission's 40 proposals, a major overhaul of french intelligence agencies including their merger into a single unit. the u.s. did something similar after 9/11. the death toll from

bombing in baghdad has risen to 250 while another 200 were injured. according to iraq's minister of health, this is a single deadliest attack claimed by isis worldwide. it's part of a wave of violence that killed 350 people across several continents during the holy month of ramadan which ended last night. investigators in egypt now suspect that the pilots on egyptair flight 804 tried to put out a fire at the front of the plane before it crashed into the mediterranean sea. earlier flight data had shown smoke in the bathroom and avionics bay and ifd of fire, heat and smoke on the wreckage found in the water, but it's still not clear what caused that fire. so the midwest is seeing another round of severe weather. the severe storms are moving through iowa and wisconsin right now bringing with them hail and possibly tornadoes. >> last night's heavy winds and torrential rains caught residents of the twin cities by surprise. roads flooded. trees uprooted and power was out for thousands and more powerful storms are expected

gotten this close to cape cod. the university of tennessee settled a lawsuit. that settlement $2.5 million. >> in exchange eight women who were suing the school over the handling of cases involving student athletes have agreed to drop the lawsuit. meanwhile, the school is not admitting to guilt or negligence but has agreed to let a commission review the way sexual assault cases are handled and make recommendations. a judge now has to approve that deal. for the first time the u.s. has more oil reserves than either saudi arabia or russia. a new study fds there are 264 billion barrels of recoverable oil in this country. 8 billion barrels more than russia and 52 billion more than saudi arabia. the increase is due largely to advances in technology like fracking. your morning starbucks drink will be more expensive next week. prices will rise as much as 30 cents per beverage starting next tuesday. it's the third year starbucks has raised prices in

at someone. a witness says sterling was armed but was not holding his gun or even touching his pockets. protesters seeing the shooting as unjustified gathered throughout the day and evening. community leaders and the baton rouge police chief plan to speak about the shooting this morning. now to some frightening surveillance video from a california cell phone store. it shows a 4-year-old girl standing near the front entrance when someone reaches through the door opens the door rather, grabs one arm and yanks the girl out. you can see her mother and a customer then immediately chased after the kidnapper. the suspect was quickly caught. the child was understandably scared and upset but not hurt. many are saying this could be a major advance in the battle against heart disease. the fda has approved the first heart stent that is designed to dissolve. the absorbed device would give cardiac patients an option from the traditional permanent metal implant and could improve cardiac health by reducing the body's exposure to foreign substances.

this just in, a man wanted for allegedly stabbing a police officer in southeast d-c is expected in court today in north carolina. 32-year-old klein andrew lawrence of hyattsville was arrested in raleigh yesterday, after a police chase. police say on june
