minnesota, where a police officer shot and killed philando castile thursday. protesters have shut down the interstate there. these are live pictures of the crowd on interstate 94. the rally has been peaceful, as officers diverted traffic. the events over the past week have read nude efforts of the police departments and the communities they serve to come together, but not everyone believes this is the right path. some believe the community should handle their own security and police departments should disband. there is a local offshoot of the black lives matter movement called keep the see for me. >> i have no desire to work with or for the police. >> we want the police as a profession to go away. we want them to get a different job. kellye:

broader black lives matter movement do not share this view. they condemn the defense in dallas and praise the improved relations. and a sheriff's deputy in alabama is recovering after being shot in a hostage standoff. the hostages safe, but the suspect is dead. killed hisortedly son's dog and set several small fires before the police arrived. it's not clear if the suspect was killed by the police or took his own life. officerndria police found this welcome surprise on his police cruiser. the note reads, "thank you. you do not hear that enough, so thank you for what you do. god bless." and we are finally feeling the break from the five-day heat wave. josh knight has the first look at the forecast. tomorrow was looking really good. josh: it will feel so much better. we are watching the humidity drop the last couple hours. with that, the feels

the scene, not a lot of information. we are at the intersection of southern avenue and benning road. your evidence markers in the middle of the intersection. that number five is where the cyclist was. this is video. all this happened just before 10 p.m., a little over an hour ago, a cyclist, an adult, not a child -- they will not give us any more details, but the cyclist was struck by vehicle. the car had an awful lot of damage. the bike was mangled, the car windshield was shattered. it was a pretty hard hit. we are told the cyclist is in critical condition. paramedics worked on the cyclist for a while before taking them to the hospital, but we do not have an update anything more than critical condition. are about to toe the car away and investigators are still on the scene looking for any kind of information they can gather as they try to piece this together.
