now. jay: alison, the wild police pursuit ended behind me, and the police had their hands full. >> we heard a bang. we were like, wait, what's going on. jay: chaos on capitol hill tuesday afternoon. [sirens] jay: as a wild police pursuit ended with a crashed car -- >> hands up, let me see your hands! jay: much of it captured on camera. >> i cannot believe it was happening in front of my building. tuesday afternoon, the police responded to reports of a man with a gun who jumped into this car with two other men. officers chase the suspects at a high rate of speed. just before entering the third street tunnel, the passenger hung out a window and fired multiple rounds at the pursuing cruiser. >>

including one juvenile. one suspect is still on the loose. tied with ais pawnshop shop burglary where eight guns were stolen. baton rouge has become ground zero for protests, all of that stemming from the death of old sterling, who was shot to death while being arrested by officers. the deadly shootings that have shaken the country have been followed by an outpouring of love. we found the latest example in arlington, where a community group has spent the last three days giving officer snacks and drinks. tim barber has been following the story. that's not all they have done. tim: the refreshment stand around the corner from where i'm standing, and they also had thank you cards, not just for the officers but also the officers in dallas. last week by shootings divided some americans, but brought others closer together.

mother of the minnesota man killed during the traffic stop a week ago. he also spoke to the family of the louisiana man shot by officers outside of the convenience store. and coming up thursday, abc news presents the president and the people, a national conversation. world news anchor david muir will host a town hall with president obama about a search for solutions after these horrible events in minnesota, louisiana, and texas. that will air right here thursday at 8 p.m. a 27-year-old worker for the democratic national committee was gunned down in the bloomingdale community. tonight, the search is on for his killer and his parents are pleading for help finding the killer. the police went door to door, hoping that somebody saw what happened. seth ridgeway shot in the back

committed murder. sentenced to life plus 11 years for the abduction comest regulation, and murder. he will also have to pay $5,000 to the victims family for funeral expenses. he had pled insanity in the april 2015 murders. he was sentenced earlier this year. alison: metro safe track is now in phase four, and the biggest impact for this one is at the airport. while you may be aware of the station closures and rail interruptions, people who just stepped off an airplane usually are not, and that is triggering confusion among travelers. tom roussey is live the airport with the impact of the newest phase. tom? tom: as of today, the trains a coming from the south and arriving at reagan national airport, but this is where they stop. they are not continuing further north into the district.
