arresting military officers. tim barber is at the turkish embassy with reaction from turkish-americans. tim: everyone is anxious to see what happens next. it was not too long ago following the airport bombings in turkey, antennae, more turmoil. tonight we spoke with a turkish-american runs a restaurant in d.c. the majority of his family is along the mediterranean coast, and right now they are protesting in the streets. the real chaos is in the capital, where the military took over a state tv and post it martial law and set a curfew. they talk to facetime, urging protesters. there were fighter jets over the city. there are also reports a helicopter attacked police headquarters, flown by the people behind the military coup. it is not clear tonight who that

we still have some investigators, just a few on the are tryinguse they to get to the bottom of this and piece together what happened. you are right, it happened right at dinnertime, folks coming out to the restaurants and the theater. these are scenes from earlier. the fire started at about 6:00 in the kitchen of a restaurant. fairfax county fire officials say the three alarm blaze quickly spread upwards. it started on the first floor, went up to the roof and across the roof to other businesses. witnesses reported seeing flames on top of the roof and thick like smoke from miles away. we spotted firefighters working near the amc theater and the adjacent barnes & noble bookstore. this wing of the mall had to be evacuated, and theater patron said they knew something was wrong when they started smelling smoke. battalion chief on why fighting the fire was complicated. >>

if it is on the roof, there is a good chance it is below the roof. firefighters found the fire started in a restaurant and ascended to the roof. once thefire is out, smoke has dissipated, the fire investigators will go inside to determine what happened, how it happened, what caused it. again, investigators are trying to figure those questions out, how it spread so quickly from the first floor all the way to the roof of the center. we are told right now they do not have any estimate of the damages. meantime, there was a tweet from said therner center at nearby restaurants and retailers will be closed until further notice. they are looking for the cause tonight. tysons corner, roz plater, abc 7 news. steve: looking at a warm evening across the dmv,
