the death of freddie gray. maureen: brian rice was the highest ranked baltimore police officer to face charges and today he was cleared for each one of them. leon: gray died after suffering a spinal injury in the back of a transport van. brad bell is live with what it means for the other officers facing trial. brad? brad: that is a big question. we are hearing calls for state attorney to drop charges against the remaining officers, even as some are crying out for justice for freddie gray. for the third straight case, judge williams finds police officer charged in the death of freddie gray not guilty on all counts. ruling that the state failed to prove that lieutenant rice committed a crime in arrest and transport of gray april 2015. the verdict is no surprise.

city police officers union pleased with the acquittal and demanded the charges be dropped against the remaining three officers facing trial. >> the state said that they gave orders that led to gray's broken neck. the judge had discretion to act. this is the third straight acquittal angering the activists gathering peacefully at the courthouse. >> the police are crooked. they are letting everybody know they can do whatever they want to do. in a town where nervous police respond and calling for dialogue. >> we need to get together and get on the same page to restore the trust

community. >> the president says several of the cleared officers are eager to get back on the the streets. he says they love to be police officers and they want to get back at them. all of them are waiting for administrative reviews that won't happen until after all of the trials are concluded. that is expected not to be until october. the next police officer trial garrett miller is scheduled to start next week. in baltimore, brad bell, abc7 news. leon: thank you. new details on the deadly ambush of three officers in baton rouge. at a news conference there, they showed video of the gun battle that took the lives of montrell jackson, matthew gerald and deputy brad garafola. the gunfire took place around several buildings before a s.w.a.t. officer killed the suspect from 100 yards away. >> there is no doubt whatsoever that these officers were intentionally targeted and assassinated. it's calculated

who work to protect the community every day. three officers were wounded in yesterday's shooting and one is in critical condition. maureen: breaking news from germany. four people were seriously hurt in an axe attack on a train outside of frankfurt. another 14 people were treated for what police were minor injuries including shock. alison: doug hill has the latest outlook on the storms for us. doug: we are in the clear regarding severe storms. we have rain left over. the severe thunderstorm watch, the only place in the viewing area in effect is over the extreme

st. mary's county where a severe thunderstorm warning in effect. we have a severe warning and we have moderate rain on the east side of the beltway in prince george's county to annapolis. back edge is moving through quickly. as a result the weather will improve. the next hour or so rain. after that, clearing skies. a break from the heat. a lot of heat and humidity later. that's the latest. leon: thank you. what turned in tension and commotion at the republican national convention there, if you look at the scene on the floor as the protests broke out there. protests within the party from the never trump camp. wanted to force a

allow them to stand up and vote against trump. nine states presented petitions in favor of the roll call but the effort was quickly blocked. squelched from efforts on the chair. the chair of the proceedings called a yea or nay vote and blocked the loud cries for change. but that did not reduce the tension inside the building. we are keeping an eye on the tensions that may be building outside there. as the crowds are expected to show up and protest outside more loudly than inside. trump's motorcade was involved a minor accident but no accidents there. leon: and scott thuman is there in cleveland to take it in for us. you have been there for a few hours. what is going on? scott: oh, nothing to report

look, there are so many people saying there is not an issue with the unity. this should be an easy four days. we saw a bit of chaos. semi-rebellion erupting on the floor here. as the stop trump movement. led in part by those making headlines in virginia. they were trying to make sure they could push a roll call vote to prevent trump's name being put on as they move forward. ultimately it would have been defeated ultimately but they were denied the roll call vote. there was a lot of shouting back and forth. some people angered that they threw down the credentials and walked out. now we are seeing kind of this back and forth with the wonder how long it may

or will they try to whip up more support overnight for any other protest they can hold on the floor. leon: tell us who is not there. scott: what is interesting, traditionally you see the republican elders here. the past nominees for example. like romney or bushes. that is not the case. they want nothing to do with this. there are a lot of big names like marco rubio and others who ran who just say i'm not going to make it. the excuses range from i have things to do at my house in this break at congress to i need to campaign for my own job back home. it's notable that you have people saying i may want y

mortgage to get the $50,000. >> $3,000 was the waterfall. horace: they have one more payment to make so bringing in a second contractor would pay a second time for work they paid for. >> i want to know when it will be done. horace: so we took a trip to mary baldwin pools to find out. no answer at the door. we got the owner on the phone and says it has been a busy pool-building season and she has had a hard time getting contractors but she has been in contact with the family. we were able to get the two sides talking again and baldwin promised the pool would be finished on july 23. >> if you can get it done for me, you are invited to come swim. >> we will hold her to that. we spoke to them this afternoon and they said no one has come out to work on the pool but they spoke to mary baldwin on friday and she promised the pool would be finished on th

cloud. this is a common appearance of a well-developed thunderstorm. this is the view in west virginia. kathryn took the shot and sent it to us. pics@wjla.com. impressive. after the shelf cloud, it got messy with the high winds, heavy rain, lightning and thunder. that continued for a short time because the storms are moving so quickly. they are moving at 40 miles per hour. a couple hours ago we could barely see anything at the capital wheel. now the storms are long gone and we are starting to see peeks of blue in the sky off to the north and west. before the storms hit, 95 degrees the official high today. snuck up on us. 89 is the average high. 73 is the morning low. now we are seeing the storms quickly move to the eastern shore. we have st. mary's county, the only place in the viewing area that is still technically under severe thunderstorm watch. but they have moved out of the county. the reason we know this is doppler radar. this is st. mary's county. not even a drop of rain. it has all moved across the bay. stil
