they are not sure if it's one of the shooters. the latest body count is one of the attackers is down. but the investigators as i said are just not sure. police in munich say the scene does look like a terror attack. at this hour, member of germany antiterrorism squad are on the way to the scene. there could be as many as three shooters they are looking for out on the loose. the shooting happened inside a malibu the mcdonald's is connected to the mall. it happened before 6:00 in the evening germany time. public transportation in munich shut down. state department telling all american citizens in germany to shelter-in-place and stay out of plain view. president obama spoke about the shooting and said while few details are known, the u.s. will provide germany with whatever it needs. the olympia mall where it happened is munich's busiest shopping center near a major transit hub, right across the street from olympic park where the 19722 olympic games were held. this becomes the second attack in germany in less than a week.

announcer: from abc7 news, this is a breaking news alert. jonathan: i'm jonathan elias from the breaking news desk. in germany, munich, one of the busiest shopping centers in the mall a man opens fire. this is cell phone video of him walking outside the mcdonald's. raising his gun and opening fire on people that were making their way to that mcdonald's. eight people a number of others ople have be. a number of others wounded. police converged on the area. this is across from the olympic stadium where the 1972 olympics were held and next to a hub for transportation. we know of the

have no cool air. d.c. bureau chief sam ford is in southeast washington. this has been an issue for some time. nothing new here. sam: michelle, after an inmate died here last week, this week the jail has been moving inmates from hotter to cooler areas within the complex. according to a city spokesperson since tuesday nearly 180 inmates have been moved in stages from hotter to cooler part of the main jail to the newer correctional treatment facility next door and also u.s. marshals moved 21 of their prisoners to virginia. the spokesperson says all inmates over 50 years of age have been moved and they have looked at others based on their medical conditions. the inmate who died last year died of a stroke. a jail spokesperson said he was 70 years old. they insist it was not heat-related.

pending. those familiar with the jail say the chillers on the roof, apparently they were having problems with them. they have had problems with them for some time and they are not functioning properly. this jail finished in 1976. so it is 40 years old. a number of people here say it is time for a new jail here at this facility. it holds about 1,200 inmates. reporting live from southeast washington, i'm sam ford, abc7 news. leon: thank you, sam. a commander for the north miami police department has been suspended for allegedly fabricating information about unarmed black therapist. they are not saying what or how he fabricated the information. on monday, charles kinsey was shot three times. video shows kinsey on the ground with his hands in the air. he was trying to calm down a patient of his who has autism.

"abc7 news at 6:00" begins with breaking news. >> from abc7 news, this is a breaking news alert. maureen: we begin with the breaking news we have been following from munich tonight. at least nine people are dead after a gunman or gunmen opened fire at a shopping mall. right now munich is shut down as authorities search for those responsible. jonathan elias has been monitoring the developments from the "live desk" for us. jonathan: it's still a fluid situation as far as getting accurate information. what we do know eight people are dead. more than 20 others wounded after a gunman walked into a mall. one of the busiest malls in all of munich and opened fire. this is the aftermath. police are converging on the
