so far no storms and no flooding. this is all potential at this point as we watch a number of storms that continue to try to again over the mountains and heavier downpours now but small ones to the south of hagerstown. we have performs to the south of the viewing area and more west. it's moving and we will monitor the storms to see if we do see the lines and the elements of the showers and the storms come together and strengthening. that is possible east of the blue ridge. east of the mountains where the air here is warmer and more buoyant and humid. there is the potential for showers and storms. nothing in the next hour or so in the metro area but we will keep our eyes all over the weather map. jonathan: thank you. prince george's county says the head start program will start on time this school year. even though the federal investigators cut the funding. that is after a scathing report from the department of health and human services citing bad teacher behavi

corporal punishment and humiliation by a teacher. brad bell is live in upper marlboro where the school c.e.o. just finished addressing the issue. this was millions of dollars at stake. brad: so many questions. we are talking about abuse of children just months after the terrible scandal involving child porn rattled the entire school system. we asked the superintendent how can this possibly be? he says apparently a few people in the system just had not gotten the word. but he is making assurances tonight to parents who count on the head start program for the young children age 3-5 that things will start on time. >> with our parents and children enrolled in head start and throughout the school system let me say in no uncertain term

february that the head start funding was in jeopardy. after a desincident at the -- after an incident where a 3-year-old was humiliated after bed wetting incident. then a 5-year-old walked home. monday the school system was informed. $6.3 million grant to run head start is terminated. just minutes ago, the c.e.o. of the school system and the chairman of the board said they met with the h.h.s., the federal agency that does the work with the head start and they have not figured out how the appeal will go forward. they still hasn't figured out how they will pay for it. they are continuing with head start in county. we talk about abuse. i can give you an example of one of the things that children were made to do. two young children bouncing on cots. the teacher made them hold

property. here it is. it is on cambridge road. the northern section of arlington. you might see, it looks unkempt these days because two months ago it was foreclosed on. but the parties have adopted here anyway. over the past several years the home has been the scene of big, big bashes. organized by promoters, advertisedded on social media featuring d.j. food, drink, pool and stubbing views of the potomac river. the recent party happening saturday night. it could be a turning point in the situation. a fight started at the party sunday morning and it continued to the road leading to a drive-by shooting in mclane at the corner of dolly madison and kirby road in mclane. a vehicle pupped up to another and shot -- pulled up to another and shots were fired. the arlington police are keeping a close eye on what happens next. >> since the coverage over the weekend we have had people from the neighborhood reach out to us

"7 on your side" consumer investigator kimberly suiters just got an alert from the maryland state police and she is our live desk with more. kimberly: this afternoon, maryland state police sent this warning to "7 on your side." a telephone scam. this is in rockville. maryland state police do not collect fines at all. they use the court system. just like with the i.r.s. the state police and the tax agents do not call and threaten arrest. it appears that the victim in this case was a woman in her 70's from allegany county. the caller demanded $800. senior citizens appear to be the main target. this week in fredericksburg, the police told us a 72-year-old woman was scammed out of $12,000 by an i.r.s. imposter and the same thing happened

jonathan: update now on the efforts to restore power of buildings near 18 and l street in northwest d.c. this has been going on for a while. pepco hopes to have electricity with air conditioning, everybody needs it turned back on as early as tonight. underground transformer power knocked out power to the area early tuesday morning. the sprint 911 service disrupted by the fire. it came back online this morning. alison: remember toya graham, the baltimore mother who made news for this? yanking her 16-year-old son from the riots last year. well, tonight, she doesn't know when she will be able to go back home after a kitchen fire over the weekend left them with no power and plenty of smoke damage. keith daniels shows us how graham's neighbors and complete strangers are stepping in to help. >> graham and her on
