ongoing investigation as this man, a 20-year-old man, remains barricaded inside his home with possession of a firearm. off.son court blocked a huge presence from fairfax police and fire and ems on the scene. take a look at video from the ground and howard or so ago. the call came in at about 9:00 this morning. a man barricaded himself inside this phone. family members were inside the home at the time. they were able to safely get out. that is good news, but the man is still inside barricaded. huge presence from fairfax county police. the swat team, hostage negotiators, and immobile crisis unit are here. meg, first of all, what can you tell us about what is happening with negotiations with this man as he remains barricaded inside the home? >> we are attempting to make contact with him so we can bring him out and result this issue safely. jeff:

this all started? >> it started just like you said. we responded about 9:08 a.m. this morning for a man that was emotionally distressed, and he reportedly had a handgun. there were family members inside, but we believe he is inside alone. we are attention to get him out of the house. jeff: thank you very much. obviously an ongoing investigation here in clifton. this is three years to the day of the situation involving john gear in springfield. a similar amount of fairfax police on the scene in that situation. that sadly resulted in the death of joh john deere. updates later on abc 7 will bring you updates later on abc 7 news. jummy: thank you. all morning long, commuters have

cut through. suzanne kennedy explains what caused the crash and how commuters had to cope with it. have beenrews working through the night to remove the vehicle and repair the powerful it struck -- power pole it struck. the accident took place in the 4000 block of the road between 2:00 and 2:30 a.m. the driver of the silver four-door honda lost control of the car as he was coming home from work. >> i saw crossing the road. one of them spread across. -- sped across. the other one stood still and then went across. i did not really see him at first until i did see him and then i swerved. suzanne: they first had to remove the car before repairs to begin.

governor terry mcauliffe is preparing to make a major announcement on voting rights. the washington post reports the announcement is to restore voting rights to 13,000 felons who served their prison sentence. republicans call it an attempt to add more democratic leaning voters to the roles in an election year. meantime, a final goodbye underway for the son of former d.c. mayor marion barry. christopher berry is lying in repose from now until 6:00 p.m. in southeast cc. -- d.c. that is when the service will begin. he was 36 years old. also new this noon, donald trump is taking aim at a foundation run by his opponent. he says the clinton foundation is the corrupt enterprise of political history.
