lawsuits filed a richmond court. we understand that according to the class action lawsuits filed on behalf of the individual who says they got sick of having a smoothie at tropical smoothie and someone who says they were exposed to hepatitis a and got a vaccine but had no symptoms after eating at the tropical smoothie cafe. plaintiff in one of the suit claims he contracted hepatitis a from the smoothie in purcellville. they say they breached the warranty and were negligent not complying with the regulations. they say all food and drink sold in the exposure period when the tainted strawberries were there that all the food and drink was defective.

cases of hepatitis a risen to 28. ten of which are in virginia. back to you. leon: developing tonight a sketch of a man leesburg police say attacked a female jogger on the washington and the old dominion trail. the victim was member of the sheriff's office who was running off-duty. the attacker displayed what appeared to be a boxcutter. no one was hurt. the attack comes days after a woman was assaulted by two men on the same trail in sterling. police tell us they don't believe the two cases are connected. authorities are considering how to keep the head start program going after the funding was cut. the school board members are arriving for a private meeting tonight. county lost $4.6 million in the wake of allegation of abuse and neglect by teachers

announcer: you're watching "abc7 news at 6:00". on your side. maureen: the losses are getting worse in the massive earthquake in italy. officials say at least 250 people are dead. another 365 are hurt. crews continue to search for survivors in the rubble. a girl was pulled alave from the debris today giving hope there may be other survivors. meanwhile, there is dramatic footage out of indiana about the tornadoes. video shows the moment a starbucks in kokomo was flattened. no customers or employees were hurt. indiana governor mike pence toured the damage, including the site of the starbucks. eight twisters touched down yesterday causing extensive damage to homes and businesses. ups of people are in temporary shelters. leon: in louisiana mobile homes are brought in to help provide housing to thousands of people left h

you may remember mobile homes were used after hurricane katrina. homeowners will receive a grant up to $15,000 to make the houses habitable inside. the recent flooding in louisiana left many four-legged friends living there homeless. now a local animal shelter here is doing something about it. the last chance animal rescue in waldorf trying to find forever homes for 66 dogs and 12 katz out of louisiana. chapter staff drove there with cleaning supplies they traded for the animals from the shelters from louisiana. >> they are our neighbors or friends. the animals are in need. what we did is we helped just a tiny portion. the need is so great there. leon: last chance animal rescue will hold adoption event on september 10 in alexandria and september 17 in columbia maryland if you are interested in making a home for one of the

leon: forget about letting bygones be bygones. brazil appears not to be finished with ryan lochte. he will be summoned to appear before a brazilian judge in regard to the case that sparked a scandal in the olympic games. lochte claimed he and three teammates were held up by armed robberies at a gas station after a night of partying. however, he later admitted to fabricating the details about the night. more an more you see the drones hovering in the air. sometimes they can be intrusive. maureen: recently a virginia woman

home of her neighbor, movie legend robert duval. she took out a gun and shot the drone out of the sky. cheryl conner has the story. >> it came over the trees and came below the tree line. i blasted it cheryl: one shot and her target was done. >> sometimes my actions think before i do. >> she has made hunting a hobby and she practices with skeet and trap. in late june she had a larger target like this one near the tree line in fauquier county. >> the cattle scattered. the drone went over the trees across the street. disappeared out of sight. cheryl: across the street behind the trees lives a man you have likely seen in movies. robert duel owns a 400-acre property. >> he is a nice gentleman. i give him distance! but not distant enough to allow a drone near the home. >> scattered in

then the men started to come up here. i said i called the police. you are trespassing. cheryl: she describes it as a fancy car, and it may have been the same vehicle spotted on his driveway days before. the woman who drives a school bus for a living has just one regret. the debris left from the drone cause adds few flat tires in her tractor. youngman hasn't bumped into duval late by but she is certain he agrees with what she did. cheryl: virginia, cheryl conner, abc7 news. maureen: thank you. streetcars in the district are marking six months of service. today transportation officials announce sunday service will be added starting september 18. so far an estimated 400,000 passengers have used the streetcars. the line has eight stops

points are in the 70's and the temperatures in the 80's or higher it feels humid. that is the story now and will be for several days. the outlook overnight, the mostly clear skies. temperatures drop. with the overnight in the mid-70's for the metro area. one of the warmer overnights in several days around here. the forecast wake-up temperatures from the storm watch 7 weather team likely 73 degrees. in fairfax in the morning. 7 in georgetown. 75 in dale city. 73 in waldorf and largo as well. friday will be a warm start. we hit 90 by mid-day. tomorrow is the hottest of the next seven. air temperatures will hit 95 degrees. feels like temperatures in the afternoon. to hit 100 and 103 degrees. one way we can check this is the computer modeling that looks at what the heat indiction and the feels like temperatures are tomorrow afternoon. 102 and 103 in the metro area. that is plenty warm. we will get be
