we learned a short time ago that she died from her injuries. police are looking for a newer model black nissan ultima with tinted windows. a second hit and run, this one in fairfax county. police said a toyota camry was rear-ended on i-495 buy a nissan maxima. it swung the camry into the jersey wall, killing a woman and seriously injuring two other -- four other occupants. the driver was found hours later in annandale and taken into custody. we will go to back to school. hundreds of thousands of students around the region are returning to class, including headstart students in prince george's county. this comes after funding questions put the program in serious jeopardy. sam sweeney has that story. learned that

prince george's county headstart program will soon be under the control of a denver-based company. this comes after the federal government pulled a $6.4 million grant, largely due to the incompetence of district employees. today a county executive welcome students back to their first day here at glass manner elementary school. norhere at glass ma elementary school. this is still certainly not the way that he and the superintendent, kevin maxwell, wanted to start the school year. >> it certainly is embarrassing. it embarrasses me, it angers me. i have to make sure that these children are safe, that parents have a safe places other children, and then we make a correction so this never happens again. forming aistrict is transition plan for a denver-based company to take over. once that happened, all the staff within the headstart program must reapply for their jobs. kevin maxwel

red cross workers in arlington are helping residents who have been displaced by a two-alarm apartment fire. fairfax fire said the blaze started at the 2700 block of arlington drive. so far there have been no reports of any injuries. now to the weather. not a bad start to the work week. doug hill is here with a look at our first forecast here it doug: it will be warm and humid. the best news is by the end of the week we will have a completely different weather pattern. but for the moment, 85 degrees. dew point 68, so it feels a few degrees warmer. the wind is bringing the air over the ocean and increasing moisture content. midday temperatures -- 88 in baltimore, 87 in hagerstown. 85 and culpeper, 84 in annapolis. here are the dew points --

anaren article exam. more than 3300 people signed up to take the first exam this morning. back to school in prince william county. 88,000 students are back in enjoying a than 1400 new school. suzanne kennedy has the story. suzanne: the alarm clocks went off early this morning, for the first time in a long time for the 88,000 prince william county students that headed back to class today, including mary williams elementary school in dumfries. but the school garnering most of the attention this first day of class is charles cogan high school, the 100 million dollars facility featuring a state-of-the-art fine arts facility and an aquatic center. 1400 students will start this year. at capacity, the school will hold 2200. middle school in woodbridge, students are returning to two new science labs
