this morning on "world news now," donald trump's trip to the border is taking a slightly more southern detour. on the eve of his big immigration speech he has announced he's going to mexico. we'll have the latest including a preview of what we can expect from the campaign trail. >> a number of major storms overnight. tropical systems are putting a damper on end of summer vacation celebrations. and hawaii bracing for what could be its first direct hit ever. and new this half hour, surveillance video of what could have been a tragic scene. >> a driver backs into a gas tank knocking it over. vehicles burst into flames and in one car two children are trapped inside. we'll show you what happens next. and the new leading man named for season 21 of the bachelor. who is he?

hurricane in more than 20 years. today residents are boarding up windows and stocking up on supplies. public schools will be closed on the big island. hurricane madeline is expected to pass just south of the big island. they're also getting ready for extreme weather on the east coast. one of the storm systems known as tropical depression eight is turning away from north carolina, but depression number nine is still on track to sweep across north florida. officials are worried there could be a storm surge and flooding. let's find out what is else in store for the residents in those areas. good morning. we're tracking this tropical depression. it is expected to strengthen because of the warm waters in the gulf, and then it's going to target gainesville, jacksonville and get stronger. we're expecting to get a little more oomph to it. rough surf, isolated tornadoes

girlfriend rihanna. that was back in 2009. >> reporter: the chicago police department has moved to fire five police officers in a shooting. including the officer who fired 16 times and four other officers who allegedly lied in their accounts of what took place that night. the officer claims it was self-defense. police in connecticut released video of a crash and fire at a gas station. a driver accidentally backed into a gas pump which sparked the fire. the woman on the other side of the pump quickly rescued two children. the driver mistook the gas pedal for the breaks. brakes. say so long to hope solo for the women's pro soccer season. she's now on indefinite leave from the seattle rain of the national women's soccer league. in a statement she says she's mentally not there yet. after u.s. soccer was her

making news in america this morning, donald trump is heading south today all the way to mexico city. breaking overnight he says he'll meet with mexico's president hours before his long awaited speech on immigration. hillary clinton's campaign is criticizing that trip as it braces for potential bad news about her e-mails. with tropical weather on the move millions in the southeast are hoping for the best as another rainmaker closes in. the forecast track coming up as well as powerful weather across the pacific. look at that eye. singer chris brown out of jail overnight facing assault charges after being arrested after an hour's long ordeal at his home. we'll hear from his accuser for the first time. part of a gas station goes up in flames with two children in a car nearby. the dramatic ending to this situation caught on camera.
