a vote. he's going to come out on top. this is a big operation. in a long war. >> we're learning this morning that isis fighters are claiming they stormed a government compound in the northern city of kirkuk. and witnesses report hearing heavy gunfire and explosions from two police compounds. local officials are denying that any government buildings have been seized. the united nations predicts as many as 100,000 flee mosul, seeking refuge in syria. aid groups warn that that could overwhelm camps there. the environment department is being blamed for a late reaction to the flint water crisis. they had the ability to intervene seven months before it declared an emergency. the drinking water was tainted by lead. the e.p.a. stepped in as soon as

were failing to address the problem. washington, d.c. transit police are facing accusations of excessive force, after the arrest of a teen caught eating in the subway. the 18-year-old woman was stopped with an open bag of chips and a lollipop. open food and drink are not allowed in d.c. subways. she refuses to sit down and has one of her legs kicked out from under her. the case is under investigation this morning. an insurance cpa done what the red baron couldn't. metlife has shot down snoopy. the 148-year-old company is getting out of the retile life insurance business, it figures it no longer needs the warm, fuzzy, peanuts cartoon character. >> after 31 years, the dog house flying beagle and the others are being cut loose. not only will the pictures appear on blimps.

you've heard you've heard of a flash mob. how about a flash rob? that's apparently what happened in suburban boston. thieves descend on the store all at once. they cut the security cords and make off with 19 iphones. the phones neither the phones or the crooks have been found. apple says it's being ripped off on amazon, in a lawsuit. 90% of the apple chargers and cables are fakes. amazon is not named in the lawsuit. instead, apple blames a manufacturer. apple has pulled the products from the site and says they have zero tolerance for counterfeits. mobile star has not commented on the fit.

deliveries, important things not finding their way to homes. one neighborhood outside of atlanta. >> one resident discovered why, after catching her postal carrier on camera, dumping bins of mail into a ditch. here's steve osunsami. >> reporter: families couldn't explain it. from time to time, it felt like their mail wasn't being delivered. they were less than happy when they found out about this. a neighbor with her cell phone han postal worker, pouring the neighbor's mail down a ditch. >> he stopped and took a break like he was tired. and continued to toss mail. he eventually just drove off like it was normal. >> reporter: the post office came to get it all. some 20 bins worth of pay chex and bank statements with sensitive information, to be delivered after the investigation is over. >> how many rogue post office guys do we have? >> reporter: this isn't the first time a letter carrier has tossed the mail.
