there are very cold temperatures. doug has the falling temperatures. now low are they going? doug: 30 in most area. let's get to it and give you a big picture view of what we deal with overnight. areas in the dark blue stretch from west virginia to maryland and part of virginia, pennsylvania, ohio. new jersey. freeze warnings. then close up the lighter shaded areas are frost advisories. so a cold night with clear skies and but early in the morning the temperatures are widespread in the 30's. at ground level there are areas with the temperatures only expected to be near 32. we have a chilly start but a nice warm-up. more changes day today as we head -- day-to-day as we head through the next seven days in the seven-day outlook in a few minutes. maureen? maureen: thank you. tonight a warning as a dangerous gang sees a resurgence in montgomery county. police say the brutal ms-13 gang continues to make the

innocent people in neighborhood. kevin lewis spoke to the gang commander about what the police are doing to fight back in a story you will see only on 7. >> it's a very difficult thing to track. kevin: captain paul mccorey heads the montgomery county going unit. ms-13, he says, is a growing problem. >> it's one of those we are concerned about. kevin: a few weeks back around 30 ms-13 members heckled a group wheaton 7-eleven. armed with chains, baseball bats, knives and at taser, the gang members used cars to chase the innocent victims, ultimately stabbing to two of them in front of this house. both men are lucky to be alive. authorities have since charged this 16-year-old pictured here on his public facebook page with conspiracy to commit murder.

maureen: a manhunt tonight in montgomery county after a man there was killed in an apparent home invasion. two massked men forced their way in last night. once inside a fight broke out and the men shot 23-year-old ronald lone iii to death. so far the police have not released a motive or made arrests but said the attack does not appear to be random. jonathan: dozens of people now ou hills because the electric bill went unpaid and the power now is off. this is all despite the people who are living there paying the respect on time. pepco said it had no chance. they haven't paid $3400,000 in -- $40,000 in owed one. the management says the unpaid bills are from the predecessor and the county social services are stepping in to try to help where they can.

jonathan: a settlement has been reached in a three and a half-year legal battle over a child's breakfast pastry. you may remember this guy. josh welch. he made national news anne arundel county school suspended him for chewing his pop tart in the shape of the gun. he then pointed the pop start at a second grade classmate. a hearing examiner upheld the suspension saying it was based on a pattern of behavior. neither side will discuss the setmment they released. maureen: grand jury handed up an indictment against barber who is accused of billing a

security work he never did. he has been suspended without pay waiting for trial. jonathan: verbal combat. that is how some describe a showdown between muriel bowser and council chairman phil mendalson. the usually friendly breakfast, usually, not so much today. they are at odds over a push for paid leave program for d.c. workers. the mayor said that mendleson hasn't shown the legislation. hasn't shown it. that would mean tax increase >> we need to know if we are going to set up a $50 million agency to do this program in the next two years. families want leave but they want to make sure the government can afford it and it works. >> i saw this as an effort to put cold water on this and it won't work. jonathan: he says he plans to have a vote on the bill by christmas. maureen: up next at 6:00,

there is a new program tested in d.c. and five other cities. they are called lift line passes for people who use the carpool option when other riders are going in the same direction. they can now buy a pass. >> customers will definitely save money. they will be able to by paying a monthly rate. cheryl: one pass costs $29 for 20 rides. the other costs $20. each ride is $2. >> typically a customer for a line ride i would say between $5 and $10 on average for a commute to get to work. cheryl: it's the battle of the ride share programs. uber today is concerned about your health. drivers delivered free flu shot. >> i hear uber is faster. cheryl: but she wants to give lyft a test drive. >> i will give lyft a try when i get a chance. cheryl: lyft riders have until

college. i don't want to worry about the next level. that hurt myself and it hurt the team last year. a lot of us, think about the next level too much. the coach said it and he was right. this year i will think about the team. try to do good things for the university of maryland. just represent where i'm from. erin: refreshing to hear that. more basketball. the nba regular season starts tonight. wizards don't play until thursday in atlanta. i sat down the interview on the website. he opened up about how difficult it was coming back from the two knee surgeries. finally big night in cleveland. not only game one of the world series, but lebron and the cavs have their ring ceremony as they host the knicks. jonathan: cleveland is a happy town. erin: very happy. maureen: that is it for us. abc7 news.
