school. >> this is serious stuff. >> all the children were in danger. >> parents are more than upset at moton elementary school. a loaded glock found inside a 3-year-olders backpack. >> he is 3. where did he get it from? where was it at in the home? i'm glad nobody got hurt. >> i'm upset and it is alarming. i could have lost my son yesterday. q: the troubling discovery reported police 9:30 on tuesday. we went inside the school. security guards and the police walk the campus. it does not have the metal detectives. parents say the school district should consider them now. >> do they check all the children's bags walking in? >> they never check my grand kids. q: the boy's father was arrested. according to the incident report the school security saw him walking the boy to school. they search the boy's bag and found the gun.

child is living. he may know how to use it. q: we found out that chiles has a lengthy rap sheet going to 2003 including felony convictions. the child and the family service agency working with police. they told us the boy has siblings and the home is safe so the children won't be taken from guardian. chiles faces years behind bars if convicted. i also contacted the school system. the media department told me it sent out that the safety and the security is the paramount concern. i have a copy of the letter now. a lot of parents i spoke to say they never received it. they are mad about that as well. in southeast, i'm q mccray, abc7 news. jonathan: scary. thank you. developing now the nicu unit at the prince george's hospital center is shut down again. this time after two more infants tested positive for a dangerous bacteria known as pseudomonas. five babies are transferred to

the hospital closed the unit in august because of the same problem. they promised sanitation overhaul. there has been no evidence of it in the water system. since the nicu reopened. maureen: new lawsuit tonight after the horrific apartment building explosion in silver spring. >> they have delayed and danced around the demands long enough. >> the victims and families are tired maureen: survivors filed two civil lawsuits against washington gas and kay management, the manager of the apartment building. one is a personal injury and wrongful death lawsuit. the other is a class action suit. together they cover more than 75 households. you might remember seven people died and 30 were hurt in the explosion at the flower branch apartments. washington gas and kay management had no comment. jonathan: nice picture.

maureen: bombshell tonight from the metro board chairman. he wants the federal government to take over the troubled transit agency. chairman jack evans agreed with the "washington post" editorial board saying it is time to consider a federal take over. he says metro needs a board with what he calls extraordinary powers to deal with contract and funding. evans says the status quo cannot go on. >> my frustration comes out saying we have the governing structure and set something up new and make it work. realistically it won't happen. in response to the editorial today that is my view. maureen: metro's largest union calls the suggestion of a federal takeover irresponsible. jonathan: we are counting you down. i know you have been, too. six days until election day. swing state in the past two elections, the polls show virginia has been solidly in hillary clinton's column for months. votetrak 2016 is in alexandria tonight where we have been

jonathan: happening now, there is an active investigation in iowa after two separate deadly attacks on law enforcement. police say scott michael greene ambushed two police officers and shot them to death while they were just the attacks happened 20 minutes apart. hours later he mysteriously walked into a police station and turned himself in. >> flagged down d.n.r. employee. presented his driver's license to them and told them to call 911. from there the responding custodies took him into -- responding deputies took him into custody. >> the number of officers killed in the line of duty is up dramatically. 48% this year alone. maureen: in the newsroom tonight we are getting a first

in baltimore yesterday. six people were killed in the crash. one person is in critical condition. jonathan: what is this? another [bleep] bus. wow! wow! holy! maureen: well, the identity of the people who died in the crash were released today and they range from 33 to 67 years of age. the ntsb is still trying to school bus to crash into the m.t.a. bus. jonathan: well, today restaurant owners came out against a controversy measure on the ballot in fairfax county. it's the fairfax county meals tax. if approved it would add a 4% tax on all prepared food and drinks. today korean restaurant owners held a press conference to voice opposition to the tax saying it will hurt small businesses and cost jobs. supporters of the bill say it
