with the latest. john: jummy, there is a budget meeting going on as we speak inside of metro headquarters in northwest d.c. transit officials figuring out how to deal with an operating deficit next year of close to $300 million. if you ask general manager paul whitfield, he will tell you he wants to cut 1000 jobs and raise fares once again. he wants to make more changes to rail service. chairman, jack evans, threw a wrench into the plants, recommending the federal government should take over. about a mile from here, earlier today, we were over at mount lebanon baptist church, where metro's largest union gathered with spiritual leaders to oppose the chairman's idea, and discuss what they call a death spiral budget. paul whitfield's plan includes

the scene cleared out. a call came in at about 9:10 this morning about somebody hearing what they thought was a gunshot going into the house with the paneling that you can see to the side here. a big response from fairfax fire and rescue. also the police say they arrived on scene. nobody was inside the home at the time the incident happened. however, police did get information four dogs were the homeowner arrived at this home on holford lane. no threat, all clear -- the homeowner did come out, seeming upset, yelling about neighbors overreacting, gave us a not -so-kind jester about being in the area. police just clearing out, so we can assume, perhaps, the

days to go, donald trump celebrating in florida, and hillary clinton counting her chances in arizona. sec. clinton: this state is in play for the first time in years. maggie: both key battleground states that show the race could go either way. the national tracking poll shows clinton of two, 47% to 45%. as the candidates crisscrossed the country, my colleagues are with them every step of the way. carolina with a trump campaign. karen: we landed in north carolina where donald trump has two rallies to he has his work cut out for him. the latest poll has clinton up by three point. maggie: he wants to stay on message, even giving himself some advice on stage. mr. trump: stay on point, donald. stay on point. no side tracks, donald. nice and easy.

voting well underway. there has been a steady crowd for much of the day. that is the story, really, across the state. more than 300 thousand people have participated in early-voting this year, compared to 2012. we should mention in 2012 we were dealing with superstorm sandy, and election officials say three times as many democrats have come out so far, versus republicans. we have the u.s. senate re, the baltimore city council, and then, of course, the presidential race. we reached out to voters here in forest bill to hear what brought them out for early voting. >> it was wonderful. this is so much easier than waiting for the regular voting day, and i wanted to make sure my vote is counted. >> i usually vote on election day, but this time i was not sure i would be able to make it. >> i did not want to fight the crowds, even though there is a

do what you got to do. sam: remember, the polls closed tonight at 8:00 p.m. if you do not make it before then, you have to come out on election day. for those living in the sea, early voting ends tomorrow. jummy: new information on the war on terror -- today we have learned two u.s. service members have been killed in afghanistan. nato says the soldiers came undefi mission with afghan forces. the u.s. military has not released the names of the service members or what unit they serve in. meanwhile, iraqi troops have entered most of for the first time since 2013, slowly moving to the city, trying to clear out islamic militants that have had control of most of for two years . this comes as a leader of isis issued a rare message urging fighters to keep up the flight

happening today, the father who's three euros son brought a loaded gun into school will appear in court. he dropped his son off at school with a security guard. the guard checked the boys back, looking for his id, but instead found the gun. the attorney said the boy stand -- stayed with his grandmother and another adult the night before. coming up on abc 7 news at noon going strong in chicago. the cubs are world series champions. a look back at what some are calling the greatest game in baseball history. also coming up, a bus out of control, smashing into a house, but the wild scene was not the fault of the driver. we will show you what happened. later, why the possibility of gondolas over the potomac river has moved one step closer to becoming a reality. janie?

jummy: -- >> vote track 2016 is in maryland, focusing on upper montgomery county, specifically the germantown area. today is the last day for early voting in the state of maryland. the polls are open until 8:00 p.m. tonight, and already we are hearing about lines at polling locations across the state. already, turnout has been very high. another thing we at in montgomery county is the significant latino vote -- the issues that matter to latino voters, and, in fact, their concerns there may be attempts to intimidate them at the polls. we will be talking about that this afternoon. we will be live at the germantown rec center at 4:00 p.m.,, at 6:00 p.m. if you want to stop by and say hello, we would love to see you. in montgomery county, brad bell reporting.
