maureen: now to a "7 on your side" ateam investigation. as the candidates fight for votes in the final hours of the campaign, "7 on your side" government watchdog investigator chris papst tells us about something startling he found when we went to register to vote. >> chris joins us live outside the white house with his discovery. this is odd.

chris. chris: yeah, we pick our next president. one person, one vote. but that didn't necessarily the case for everyone. i discovered id am -- i am legally registered to vote in three states. so i put it to the test. i went to three polling stations in three states to vote three times for the next person who is going to live in there. as america is becoming more mobi the largely paper based voter rolls can't keep up. >> like to vote, sir? >> yes. in the past four years i lived in three states, pennsylvania, virginia and now maryland. i registered to vote in all three and followed the election laws as i went. "7 on your side" wanted to see if the voter rolls kept up with me. >> early voting? >> early voting. >> my first stop, maryland, where i registered in october. >> take this paper and sign it. >> you can't come in here.

30 minutes later we were in arlington, virginia. i want to check my voter registration. you just need my name? >> yep. it looks like you are ready to vote. >> i learned the same is also true with the old polling place in pennsylvania. where i haven't voted since 2013. despite a "7 on your side" report last year where i started the state's voter system and told election officials i moved, my registration is still active and i could vote a third time. ridge centered to vote in -- registered to vote in pennsylvania? >> it does a little bit but on the other hand i no enot all states are diligent. when i registered a year ago i signed document that said i was previously registered. they sent it to pennsylvania but officials there said they never got it.
