are voting against. >> the latest poll show battle with trump on twitter with a final appeal. >> everybody is talking about the record turnout at the polls. it's amazing. go to the polls. we have a movement going on. we have never seen anything like it. >> the trump campaign tried to file a lawsuit in nevada over an early polling location they maintain remained open too late. the judge decided to throw it out. however, it may be an indication they c after tonight. from trump campaign headquarters in new york. alison: police set up presence outside the trump hotel along pennsylvania avenue in case protesters decided to head there. several groups demonstrated outside the hotel in the last few weeks but today it has been quiet. larry: the latest estimates more than 41 million people voted early in this election.

there are plenty of ballots to be cast. nearly half a million people did absentee voting in virginia and a million people cast early ballots in maryland. the first people to cast elections were in dixville notch. hillary came away the winner with four votes compared to two for donald trump. today's instapoll asks if you voted in us know. we have team coverage at people wait at the polls. begin with stephen tschida in prince george's county. stephen: in greenbelt we have a dozen voters here. this is far fewer and moving quicker than it was earlier today. the single scanner.

ballot. they are making sure everyone has a photo i.d. out before they get in there to speed this up. they are expecting as we get closer to the closing time at 7:00 that we will start to see many more voters showing up. fairfax county saying 45% cast a ballot in addition to 20% of the absentee done prior to today. if you know someone or you are someone coming out tonight between now and when the polls they say you should expect the lines will grow. if you are in line tonight you can still vote. brianne carter, abc7 news. alison: overall, they are monitoring 28 states, including virginia but a federal judge quashed trouble brewing in one state.

saying the polls were kept open two hours later than they were supposed to and a judge tossed that out. and cheryl conner is keeping tabs on the polling problems in our area today. >> the sticker shows proof she voted but brown said it cost her unnecessary time and energy. she was told to go back to rolling crest chillham community center where she used to vote six years ago. she has moved updated her address and says she voted twice at the hyattsville library. >> it's usually more local county or government. a spokesperson says there is no record for a change of address and brown only voted at rolling crest. >> i have definitely voted at the other location. >> we spoke to a voter here at the elementary school in herndon who took an hour to move through the line outside this morning.

minutes to learn she had to cast a provisional ballot. >> i sent my pictures a picture and the caption was i think. cheryl: she wanted to hide her identity and she went with the voter registration in hand but the name was not on the list. >> the woman said she was unable to pull me up. cheryl: election spokesperson said two did not update the poll so those newly registered were left out. >> i did everything i was supposed to do. i registered to vote on time. >> we are told the provisional results will count before the results are certified. >> in herndon, cheryl conner, abc7 news. alison: howard university hosting one of several command centers around the country keeping an eye out for voter fraud. the facility is taking calls from across the nation from voters who have concerns about what they may have experienced at the polls.

virginia tenth district congressional rate -- race has been dirty. jeff goldberg has the latest. jeff: if you turned on the television in the last couple of months you have probably seen the attack ads between republican barbara comstock and democrat luann bennett as the campaigns, the national parties and the outside groups spent millions of dollars to try to influence the outcome of the close race. luann bennett this afternoon at fox mill elementary school in herndon, virginia. speaking with voters. she is a business owner and this is her first run for office. she hopes that people want change and hillary's popularity will help her. barbara comstock has been in g.o.p. politics for years. she has not wanted to talk about donald trump at all and she called on him to drop out

alison: we are back with an update on the anacostia river. the anacostia river tunnel has been completed. it was finished saturday meaning it took over a year to complete it. the tunnel runs million 100 feet be -- runs 100 feet below the surface. it crosses the anacostia river, the d.c. line. larry: no one was hurt in a fire over dupont circle. we could see it at 17 to m street from kettering, maryland. another of the crews was blocked away at a polling place. the flames started in an hvac unit on the roof of a building under construction. alison: skytrak7 was in

ryan hughes has the latest on the developing story. >> this is a house where a woman was badly burned. she managed to get outside and walk over to kettering middle school that is used as a polling place. volunteers said she told them she was set on fire. >> scary moments after a fire breaks out ins arrived poll workers volunteering across the street came to the rescue. as a woman came staggering over to kettering middle school. >> please help me. call 911. my husband set me on fire. >> i look at her and she was completely burned. it was horrible.

for this to swing in the balance of the democrats 30 of these red seats would have to turn blue. that is a tall order. we don't know whether it will happen or not. in the senate we have an interesting situation. five of the red seats, five of the republican seats have to flip to blue for the democrats to democrats to take the balance of power. take a are taking a close look at tonight. five close races. let's start in florida with the former republican presidential candidate marco rubio trying to get his seat secured in the senate. he is up against murphy. with florida the tight residential rate.
