clinton is actually leading in the popular vote. she is ahead despite losing. what matters more right now is the electoral college. it shows how much further this country and the political process has to go in sorting itself out. >> this is not the outcome we wanted or we worked so hard for. and i'm sorry that we did not win this election for the values we share and the vision we hold for scott: no disguising the dispointment for hillary clinton wednesday after giving an acceptance speech 12 hours after she hoped to give a victory one. >> if we stand together and work together with strength in our convictions and love for this nation, our best days are still ahead of us. scott: republican elders and leaders who had openly supported other candidates fell in line the day after.

large a group this is. these folks represent the lgbt community. they represent muslims. they represent people of color. they say they are very, very unhappy that donald trump has been elected. we spoke with woman one about why she is here tonight. >> today we are here to talk about community and talk about the facts things didn't go the way we thought they would. women, lgbt folks and anyone feeling disenfranchised knows they are not alone today. richard: they plan to be here for a couple of hours tonight and hopefully things will continue peacefully. reporting live from the white house, richard reeve, abc7 news. maureen: thank you, rich. dramatic scene in the past two hours on the campus of the american university in northwest washington. some students held up --

that included burning of an american flag. students chanted america is dead. and america doesn't represent me. the protest is now over. jonathan: a lot of americans woke up feeling good about the change in leadership and hopeful of the future or they woke up with a feeling of despair. to get a sense of voters' feelings you have to ask them. we sent brad bell out in votetrak 2016. he has been on the trail the entire process. now that is what voices have to say now. brad? brad: you know what? it's like what we heard in the course of the election. at 4:00 and 5:00 we shared a variety of opinions, saying they were thrilled or terribly disappointed. when we gave people an opportunity to step on the soapbox and be heard what we heard was some ambivalence.

announcer: you're watching "abc7 news at 6:00". on your side. maureen: new details on the investigation into an apparent serial killer in south carolina. police say two of the bodies found on todd kohlhepp's property are those of a couple now for panhandling in the area. investigators say they had been buried about a year. police discovered several bodies after they rescued a woman chained in a storage container on kohlhepp's property.

the arlington man was convicted yesterday of killing his estranged wife bonnie. her young children found her body in the family's arlington home last year a judge will formally sentence david black in february. a man that was hurt in a kettering house fire tuesday morning has died. police say that he set a woman described as a long-time acquaintance on fire in an argument they were having. she made it out of the burning house and received help from poll workers at innerve s the victim remains in critical condition tonight. a firefighter did suffer some minor burns battling the fire. maureen: on this day after election, why dogs showed up on capitol hill. jonathan: rain today. doug will check back in with the weather that we'll see

maureen: americans are not alone sounding off about the election and the outcome. international visitors are also talking about it. cheryl conner has the interesting perspective. cheryl: some see storm clouds over the white house.

will follow. we sit outside the next home for president-elect donald trump and spoke to international travelers who witness the election. >> most of the people are seeing trump as being not political person. he is a businessman. he was being a show. cheryl: sewman who stands for change according to this man vi >> i think change is good. >> on them campaign trail, trump called some mexicans in the u.s. rapists and he has not given up on his promise to build a wall that shields illegal immigrants from crossing the border. some took a selfie and others care dash carried a tissue. >> it's not real to me. emotionally i'm devastating.
