5:43 pm
who at one time in their life decided to make a decision to serve a cause bigger than themselves. they served our country. they joined that protective line to stand, to fight and die if need be to protect the rights that the forefathers gave us. that selfless decision puts them in a glass by themselves. a class worthy of everyone's respect and worthy of a thank you. to all the veterans out there, we here at abc7 thank you for your service. while there is one designated to recognize the efforts here is homing that everyone uses every day -- hoping that everyone uses every day to remember you and all you have done. to all the men and women in all of the branches of the military, thank you so much. we owe you a debt we couldn't possibly repair. nice to see on a day like this, too many people out there. you see little kids running up to people in uniform and shaking their hands. good sight. larry: happy veteran to you, my friend. thank you for your service.

5:45 pm
it's possible that the absentee ballots and the provisional ballots may change the outcome. brad: here is where they stand, bruchey the republican challenger with 6,48votes to the incumbent gysberts 6,427. they are 58 votes apart. >> they use a reasonable amount of force. >> gysberts made news in november when he refuted police brutality did not return our calls. bob bruchey, the former two-term mayor was unavailable for an interview but told us by phone he hopes his lead holds when election officials count as many as a thousand absentee and provisional ballots next week. voters can only wait and watch along with the candidates. >> i don't think my vote would have mattered. >> some people just don't care. other people pay attention.
5:46 pm
deputy director jackson says there is a lesson here. >> it is important to vote. your vote really does count. >> now that is so true. so absentee ballots had to be in the mail by the 8th. they don't have to get to the office until the 18th to be counted so this could be going on for quite a while. this part of the ballot here, that is for the city council. a couple of candidates there are separated by haveer than two dozen votes. as they say, every vote in hagerstown, brad bell, abc7 news. alison: thank you. time for a check on the roadways. jamie sullivan on traffic watch. jamie: we are seeing a lot of heavy traffic in a couple areas. but for the most part, the big picture is smooth sailing. 270 on the spur. this is at democracy boulevard. the heavy volume is heading southbound. you can see once you get to the outer loop of the beltway, we are still heavy.

5:49 pm
projection of what the weather may be for several days. what happens every now and then one computer model gives a different solution or outlook. that is something, you are looking at one of the models now. that happened to us in the past couple of days. we have been saying for the past few days monday would be clear. however, two days ago it's a computer model, european model that started to suggest a storm could come by and produce rain in the afternoons. we wrestle with it. do we go to w the comput so far, we are holding with the forecast. it probably won't rain on monday we keep the eyes open. if the other models come in agreement will be rain. we will awe just the forecast. it comes down do we believe the models or do we stick with our own experience or hunches? i tell the young folks in the weather center over the years if you react to the models exclusively, if you live and die by the models you better hope you are a cat. because you need more than nine lives.
5:50 pm
especially in big storms. >> that is your experience comes in. doug: you never get it right all the time. it's different than the model says something and we change it. not on my watch we don't. larry: it's down see the science behind it. intriguing. doug: it's a lot of fun. alison: thanks. hi, erin. erin: well, the nba champion cleveland cavaliers are in town for a friday night matchup against the wizards fresh off the visit to the white hous washington looks for the second straight win. which won't come easy against lebron and company. john wall and the wizards hope to bring the same intensity tonight as they did against the celtics on wednesday. >> we know they are a tough team. they are defending champs. they just lost their first game. you know they will come in with edge on their shoulder to get back on a winning track. we have to come back in with the same focus to play the right way. erin: it is time now for
