dangerous. fishermen spotted him in the water and they called for help. chesapeake bay marine police say they responded to 13 rescues in two hours on saturday. two people died after falling in the water and one person is missing. jonathan: virginia is taking a big step to fight growing problems with heroin and other opioid drugs. they declared opioid addiction a public health emergency. that allows people to get the life-saving drug naloxone without a prescription. that is the drug that sold under the brand name narcan. three virginians die from drug overdoses every day. maureen: up next at 6:00 -- mike: i'm mike carter-conneen in alexandria. at a special naturalization ceremony a local man, a medal of honor recipient declared outstanding american by choice. coming up, we have an update

metal of honor recipient. >> i want to see more smiles. big smiles. this is a great day. mike: the 33-year-old became a u.s. citizen in 2001, the same year he graduated high school in bethesda. he competed in track and cos country and he joined the army in 2008. i was last november when he received a medal of honor for his heroic actions in afghanistan, grabbing a suicide bomber by the vest and shoving him away from the security detail. the explosion still kil others but it could have been much worse. president obama: the instincts and the courage to do what was needed. >> he nearly lost his leg in the blast. today he fully recovered and joined boeing of the director of veterans outeach. >> i'm thankful i am an american. >> he also received an award, outstanding american by choice from u.s. citizenship and the immigration services. >> military service.

congratulations to them. a little chilly around here today. we are in shock. doug: at least we are not geeing the snow and the plows. maureen: thank goodness. doug: we have the chill in the air and the winds. talk about what is coming next. a slight warm-up. this is from the fan tage point of belle haven in alexandria. i turned into a sunny day. the sun making a low mark across the sky. it didn't warm us up much. now temperatures will fall hours. 47 today. two days below the average high of 56. over the next few days we are closer to the average high. pretty much holding the territory for the next week or so. it's 36 in cumberland, maryland. 34 in winchester. 53 is the bay temperature. water temperature is very cold. 39 in andrews. 41 at joint base andrews and reagan national airport.

clear skies, even with the strong winds the air is dry. high pressure is so dominant we have no trouble reaching range of temperatures. 23 by morning. 33 downtown. if that is the case, then the wind chill, the winds will run in teens and the 20's. last year was the 23rd of no. we had the first 32 degree reading at reagan national. it will be close to that tomorrow morning so everything is on target seasonally. i mentioned the update. they are getting pounded. close to three feet of snow. these are the lake fect. the winds are across the open water of the lake. the wind direction changes a little bit and changes where the high snow totals and the pockets are. especially land with the higher hills a few miles inland. they are getting pounded. but nothing compared to that area. the high pressure is responsible for the wind flow and speed. it's closer to us on wednesday morning and the winds will lay down. we will have light winds.

and southwest ahead of the cold front. we will see increasing cloudiness on wednesday. thanksgiving morning the cold front will approach a mountain. we have a chance until noon or 1:00. it will clear out in the afternoon. that will show up in the thanksgiving forecast. shower or two early. clearing skies with highs in the mid-50's. look at the ten day shows no major storms. rain chances thursday morning and monday and tuesday. otherwise fairly quiet weather. for night and the redskins now have a short week to get ready. maureen: they do. erin: dallas week brings out the passion in redskins fans. could it come between a redskin player and his mother?
