cautioning his fellow mail carriers after he was attacked and robbed. it happened yesterday in northeast. that mailman talked to ryan hughes about the horrifying ordeal. he joins us live with the details. do we know what they were after? ryan: we can tell you they were after money, not the mail. the victim is out of the hospital after getting three stitches in his four head. cell phone, even his shoes and pants. the victim is speaking out, because he says he wants to protect his coworkers. >> as soon as i laid down, i started to get kicked in the head. i got pistol whipped. ryan: bruised, battered, and fearing for his life, this postal carrier asked that we hide his face after he was attacked and robbed on the job. >> i am trying to support my

ryan: police are back at the scene this afternoon in the 2000 block of second street north east, searching through the grass and looking for evidence. investigators say the mail carrier was headed back to his truck saturday evening when he ran into two men sitting on the sidewalk. >> one of them put a gun to my four head, and told me to lay on the ground. ryan: did as he was told, but the suspects grew angrier when they found out he didn't have any cash. >> they said, strip him. they took my shoes and pants. ryan: the suspects backed off as a car came down the street. the victim says he took off, asking them for help when a shot was fired into the air. he kept running until spotting a police officer near fourth and brian street. the victim tells abc seven he

stuff like this could definitely happen again. kimberly: authorities -- ryan: authorities believe it was an isolated incident. the victim didn't get a good lock -- a good look at the suspects because they have their faces covered. the postal service is offering a reward of up to $50,000 or information leading to arrest and hughes, abc 7 news. kimberly: continuing the crime alert in d.c., two men were shot a few blocks from the metro station. one of those men died. it happened just before 1:00 this afternoon in the 600 block of elm street. about 90 minutes ago, we learned a man who was shot just after 4:00 in the 1300 block of howard road southeast has died. that is less than two miles and

scene by the navy yard. a plea from the mayor. cheryl conner is live with what the mayor had to say. carol: the mayor is calling on the public to come forward with any information to help them identify sex -- suspects. a 16-year-old who was shot on friday, we heard from the interim police chief and he tells us she was the target, but it is not clear how many shots were fired or why she was shot. this afternoon, over by the navy yard, an adult male was killed. there was a female inside the car. it does not appear to be random. it does not appear to be related to the 16-year-old. it was also a shooting that

in howard street. the details, they are still working to get those those out. three incidents in 48 hours. the mayor is calling of the public's help to come forward with any information to identify the suspects. >> we are here to ask for the public's help in addressing some very significant incidents that happened in the district of columbia over the last several days. cheryl: i spoke to a witness over there near the navy yard shooting. she says she heard gunshots. she started looking towards where it happened, and she realized that someone was inside the car, firing his gun. what we know now is, one man was killed. there was a woman inside the car. we don't know her condition at this point. we have spoken to her and will

results. president-elect trump raged against recount efforts in a tweet storm. he fired off a dozen tweets focused on recounts initiated by jill stein. trump went after stein and hillary clinton for supporting recounts in wisconsin, michigan, and pennsylvania. trump said he "won the popular vote, if you deduct the millions who voted illegally." and quote. votes in the popular vote. clinton's campaign says the goals are to look for outside interference with the recount. bei bei gets better. a good news update from the zoo, after the beloved panda cub underwent surgery. that is next. plus, a pretty day, but we are

kimberly: hundreds of people came together, jewish, muslim, christian, to lift voices in harmony in a show of unity. anna-lysa gayle is live with more on the singing for hope. anna-lysa: they 300 people singing on the steps of the lincoln memorial, they hope this reflects the historic site which the park service says is a symbol of unity, hope and strength. cracks i had a lot of friends who came to protest last weekend after the election. i wanted to expose my kids to finding their voice in a positive way. >> the memorial has been a place where leaders in the past spoke
