or if you're going to be in the area, give yourself plenty of time tonight. reporting live, john gonzalez, abc 7 news. jummy: for a closer look at the traffic impact, we turn to jamie sullivan. jamie: let's talk about some of those closures that will go into place. it is at 2:30 p.m., as johnny g. just said. you have until 2:30 p.m. where they will close street northwest from 18th street to 14 street. traveling up 15th street and 17th street, you will be back -- blocked from constitution avenue to pennsylvania avenue. we also have a capitals game. the afternoon drive would be a slow one getting into the district. the big picture so far this afternoon -- not too bad at all. mostly in the clear. little bit of road work drops you down to 10 miles per hour.

situation lasted more than an hour before hospice emotion -- hostage negotiators were able to resolve the issue. authorities in tacoma, washington, says the suspect was shot this morning after an 11-hour standoff. the officer was shot while responding to a domestic violence call. >> it is a horrible beginning to this, but the ending of this is equally as have two safe kids and no other neighbors, no other officers got hurt. jummy: this is the first officer killed in tacoma since 1997. deliberations continue today in michael slater's, who is charged with murder.

[indiscernible] >> sir, were shots fired? >> yes. sir. >> i killed one, i think. jummy: that chilling 911 call coming from sunrise, florida. it was a homeowner who said three men broke into his house. he got on the phone while he fired at one of the suspects, -- fired at the suspects, killing one of them. the homeowner will not be charged. colombian authorities say evidence is growing that the

ran out of fuel as it tried to land. the pilot could be heard before the crash asking to land because of a fuel shortage and electrical tell you. 71 people died in the crash. today, we heard from a member of the soccer team that did not travel for the game. >> i don't know why he didn't want to take me. that was in his head, and it was my destiny. i have this d my heart, what if i had gone? jummy: a full investigation into the crash is expected to take several months. closer to home, and while seen in fairfax county -- wild scene in fairfax county after a car crashes into a home. suzanne kennedy has the story. suzanne: take a look behind me, and you can see the damage left behind when a vehicle left braddock road and slammed into the side of this home.

the 6600 block of braddock road. the vehicle hit the gas meter, and get started too late. braddock road was shut down early in the morning rush so washington gas could respond and shut off the gas. the owner of the home describes what his tenant heard when the car hit the house. >> he heard a boom outside of the house in the corner, and a lady "help me, help me." he opened the door to get into the house, and he called 911. suzanne: ultimately, the car was remote. the driver was taken to the hospital with nonlife threatening injuries. fairfax county firefighters remain on the scene, shoring up the house, making sure it is safe for someone to be inside. annandale, virginia, suzanne kennedy, back to you.

jummy: well, this weekend is the 46th annual scottish christmas walk and parade, and sam sweeney is in alexandria with more on the lineup honoring this cottage heritage. sam: well, good afternoon. it is one of the biggest weekends in northern virginia, the annual scottish christmas walk parade. here. this year, you will be able to go in some of the old, historic homes in alexandria. we will take you inside one of the oldest federal style homes, which you will be able to check out on the tour. the home was built in the 1700s, and george washington's relatives lived here. i want to bring in jennifer. you are in charge, or partly in charge of it. why should people come check it
