was seriously hurt. wow. developing now, a search for the motive in the deadly shooting of former nfl and college football standout joe mcknight. mcknight was shot and killed in an apparent road rage incident outside of new orleans. witnesses say two men got into an altercation at an intersection and moments later shots were fired. mcknight was found in the middle of the street. the shooter stayed at the scene and surrendered to police and since then has been released from custody. >> just was not a troubled kid, young man. the boy was just trying to make it back in the nfl. that's all he wanted to do. that was his whole dream from 6 years old. i've been knowing him from 6 and for this to happen is just senseless and it has to stop. jummy: mcknight was in the nfl

new york jets and kansas city chiefs. he was 28 years old. it was a scary scene outside of salt lake city when shots rang out in a middle school. >> kid with a gun. >> he has a gun. >> did he fully fire off any rounds? >> he did. jummy: police say a 15-year-old student at mueller park junior high arrived at the school with a 12-gauge shotgun and handgun. the parents noticed the guns missing from their home and rushed to the school and when they arrived they heard >> a teacher and student in that room immediately engaged him verbally in trying to talk him out of doing this. i believe those seconds played a big role in the outcome today. jummy: police say the parents coming to the school may have made all the difference. luckily no one was hurt in this incident. well, we are 23 days away now from christmas. can you believe it? and right now preparations are underway for a very special trip.
