of northern virginia into west virginia. we are dealing with areas that can see freezing rain overnight. the temperatures will be critical. we are holding in the mid and upper 30's. to the west, where the temperatures are lower, those are the areas that are vulnerable that could see freezing rain. we have freezing rain advisories for the areas in pink. this part of maryland under an ice storm warning. 30's for all of us. rain after midnight, staying ,bove freezing by the beltway and lots of rain for the morning commute. we will talk about the arctic last coming our way in a few minutes. than 100 75re million people across the country are facing freezing temperatures tonight. -- more than 175 million people. reports, chicago was taking the brunt of it.

traffic alert at 9:00 tonight. they say they are still expecting -- accepting guests. driving around the property earlier tonight, we had no tieups. cheryl conner, abc 7 news. kimberly: new developments from alexandria. fairfax county fire investigators say that a mechanical failure and a furnace caused a fire that forced dozens to spend yet another night in red cross-provided shelters. the fire started saturday evening in the woodlawn garden apartments. video shows flames shooting through the roof. most of the damage was contained to the third floor. that is the good news. the bad news, tonight nobody is allowed to return because power remains off. >> i feel sad knowing we cannot be in our house, opening our presence. but i'm a little bit happy i spend time with my family. >> i'm happy i'm safe in here. kimberly:

is reviewing the district attorney's request to do the dna search with a decision likely to come this week. it has been three days but firefighters are still at an incinerator plant in montgomery county. the two alarm fire at the resource facility started thursday night in a large pile of trash inside of the shipping room, were trucks drop off waste. fire is contained that continues to generate smoke. that will takey several more days before it is fully extinct. time to check on the weather. the rain should be kicking up any hour. ryan: it is already in the western suburbs. in the next few hours we will start to see some rainfall, but just rain in washington. further north and west you go, the better chance you may see some freezing rain, causing travel troubles. no concerns of slick roads, just a wet mess

early morning commute. doppler radar in washington, to the north and west, heading into northern virginia, west virginia, we are watching precipitation and moisture. the air temperatures in the western maryland, upper 20's and 30's. as the rain falls it freezes on contact as freezing rain. that will be an issue in couldtown, morgantown, 81 have pockets of freezing rain through the overnight and a lot of moisture from the system. the cold front right across chicago right now, the moisture streaming with wind out of the southwest across ohio. that will work eastward the next several hours bringing plenty of rain inside of the beltway. it will be a wet start to the week. the futurecast, the temperatures stay above freezing inside the beltway, and for most of us, looks like 99% of us will have temperatures above freezing or a little higher. no concerns with freezing rain.

hagerstown, pockets near winchester, because of the terrain and the cold air, we could be dealing with freezing rain overnight, and eventually it will change over to rain. we will not have any issues through the morning hours tomorrow. heavy rainbout 6:30, across southern maryland, andrews, leonardtown, and then we dry out. through the afternoon we will see some sunshine, and air temperatures tomorrow, lower 50's. 53 towards 2:00. a dramatically different day from morning to afternoon monday. cold air also coming in thursday and friday. but tonight, dealing with freezing rain in the area shaded advisory,reezing rain garrett county, the air temperatures will be significantly colder and the ice accumulation will be colder.
