it's larger and different than an attack back in 2014 when 500 million accounts were compromised. the company is now urging users to take precautions. rebecca jarvis has more. more than a billion yahoo! accounts hacked. the tech giant revealing a third party stole massive amounts of user data in 2013 including names, e-mail addresses, phone numbers, date of birth, and security questions and answers. this is the second time this year yahoo! has announce a significant breach. in september, the company disclosing a separate incident involving 500 million user accounts. yahoo! telling abc news, they are notifying potentially affected users and have taken steps to secure their accounts, including requiring users to change their passwords. the fbi says they are aware and in contact with yahoo!. that notification process has just begun, so many people might not even be aware if the

yahoo! recommends anyone with a yahoo! e-mail address should immediately change their password and security question and beware of suspicious e-mails. abc news, new york. rebecca, thank you. the security breach may hurt verizon's huge deal to purchase yahoo!. earlier this year, the communications giant agreed to purchase yahoo! for $4.8 billion. verizon says they are reevalu e reevaluating that deal that has not been finalize. they are leaving all options oven the table including renegotiating the price or even walking away. turning overseas now. a cease fire deal is back on in aleppo hours after it collapsed. evacuation of thousands are expected today. they have been posting messages for help. rebel forces will also be removed from the city. the original cease fire brokered tuesday collapsed less than 24 hours later. incoming trump

questionnaire sent to the energy department was not authorized. blaming it on a staffer who did not go by standard protocol. the agency refused to fill out the form in effort to protect employees who may be targeted because of their work on climate change. abc's brian ross has more. >> reporter: at the department of energy, may be target of a witch hunt who repeatedly insisted climate change is a scam. >> it's a hoax, a money making industry, okay. the whole thing is crazy. >> reporter: the concerns among scientists came to a head when the trump team sent a list of 74 questions to the department of energy, in particular, question 27, asking for the names of all employees who have attended meetings about climate change or the social cost of carbon. >> they are scared. they are concerned about the ability to carry out their duties, their work, their research with integrity, but also with independence.
