saying the person detained yesterday has been released. not enough evidence to prove he was behind the wheel. earlier, germany's chancellor angela merkel visited the site of the country's deadliest attack in decades. it was around 8:00 p.m. in berlin. this truck suddenly came barreling over a sidewalk and headed straight for the stands where hundreds of holiday revelers were out shopping at the christmas market. >> doing a little bit of shopping. i stopped to respond to a text message. lindsey: she believes the text message saved her life. >> i high-tailed it as far as i could. i hit behind a stall. there was nowhere to go. lindsey: according to eyewitnesses the truck was speeding and shows no sign of stopping. traveling at least 50 yards before crashing to a halt. the truck is believed to be from poland where it was registered.

by the capitol. the barricades did what they were supposed to do. police say the two guys were trying to steal a car and they backed in a police cruiser before going forward and hitting the checkpoint barrier. alison: a man accused of setting off moms in new jersey and new york says he is not guilty. that was ahmad khan rahami's plea in court this morning. he faces attempted murder charges now for allegedly trying to kill officers before they arrested him. he is also accused of setting off two pipe bombs back in september. one along the route of the marine corps race and more than 30 people were injured in the attack. in new york city, security at their christmas markets have been beefed up since the attack in berlin yesterday. the nypd counterterrorism unit patrolled winter village, that is in bryant park overnight and the area surrounding the christmas tree at rockefeller center and macy's in harold square. jonathan: updating another story breaking yesterday. remains of the russian

and the reaction from police. surveillance video capturing the scene. fairfax county police saying before the sheriff's deputy arrived on scene, yovani amaya gomez striking a security guard in the back of a neck with a sign post. >> what is note-worthy as far as this, this is when security personnel actually get on the security radios and then radio for additional assistance. amy: later gomez seen running toward a sheriff's deputy. police say with the sign post raised above his head. >> he had already injured a security guard. that can be a deadly weapon. you can kill someone with that. amy: according to police, the deputy involved called for paramedics following the shooting. earlier that day, gomez was taken to inova hospital after approaching an officer who police say was unable to tell if gomez was suffering from a

herndon, virginia, where a woman and two children were hit by a car. amy aubert just arrived on the scene. amy, what else can you tell us? >> rearrived moments ago. you can see police activity here. i spoke to police and they reiterated that the information is preliminary. the call came in around 3:22 this afternoon for the three pedestrians involved in the accident. it all happened here at the intersection of centreville and mcnair farms drive. a 52-year-old woman was strapped under the striking vehicle. she has been taken to the hospital. they describe the injuries as life threatening. police tell me the other two pedestrians are children.

they were also taken to the hospital but the injuries are non-life threatening. the driver stayed on the scene. all northbound lanes are closed. the police expect it to remain this way. at least through the early portion of the evening. the traffic is diverting that way. jamie sullivan has traffic watch. jamie: that's what i want to focus first. all lanes are blocked. northbound side of centreville road. with the lanes blocked they are diverting you. they may push you off on mcnair farm drive. you can get to that point. if you want to avoid it and go further south, take copper mind road to frying pan road. take another live look overhead. all the lanes are blocked. they are putting everyone on the mcnair farm drive.
