a mild start to 2017. how long will this nice weather last? >> for most of us, at least the temperatures are going to cooperate as we get back to work this week. but that is only for a couple of days. right now, still 47 degrees in d.c. winchester, around 36. most of us will manage to stay in the 40's for the next few hours. this time of year, our average high temperature around 44. as clouds continue to build back into the area, that will stop our temperatures from falling too much. stille are in d.c., working as things move into southwestern virginia. that rain has to had our way overnight tonight and into monday and tuesday. overnight lows around 41.

anchor: cleveland's mayor's office says police are investigating the contents of a bank found at a private harbor a lake erie. it is part of the search for a missing plane carrying six people including the pilot, his wife, and sons which disappeared thursday night. five boats and a helicopter are trying to find the plane and dive teams are ready to search once the plane has been located. all hands on deck to fix the sewer line that forced the evacuation of 22 homes in a detroit suburb. the public works commissioner urged residents to reduce water use while they created a bypass to get around the pipe. the iconic hollywood sign got a new year's day makeover courtesy of a prankster who changed it to say "ho

kellye: here is something that should bring some cheer to the new year. the first baby born in the d.c. area in 2017. she came into the world this morning at the shady grove medical center. born in 2016. her did everything to have in 2016 but she had another plan. she wanted to be a star today. kellye:

hours of continuous coverage. nothing like that, at least for the next 10 days. a dusting of snow but that will be about it at this point. temperatures not hanging too far from the 50 degree mark. a lot of places into the mid-50's. we are waiting for the clouds to move in and then it is the rain after midnight. in a few places, we are already into the 30's. for most of us, not too cold of an evening. down to about 42 at 9:00. in,he clouds start to move you notice the temperature doesn't drop too much from there. overnight, the rain will push into the area. after midnight, it will stick around for the majority of our monday morning commute and through a good portion of tuesday. temperatures above freezing for everybody but it will be a cold rain that we are watchi.

through virginia down to atlanta and birmingham. at this point, still dry. once again, just kind of watching at the clouds continue to build into the picture. tomorrow morning, 6:00 a.m., you'll notice rain widespread. the more dry time into shenandoah valley. in southern maryland, that rain sticks around for most of the day. i think we see it like that for us by monday evening. into tuesday, you'll watch as the rain builds back in. , theu are off tomorrow kids don't have to go back just yet, still dealing with that rain on tuesday. i think that is where we will see our heaviest rain as well. the drive home on tuesday, things do start to try ba

>> we managed to have a dry first day of the year. but over the night, the rain will move and instagram monday and tuesday. -- moving monday and tuesday. temperatures at least are mild to get us started. by thursday, we will see highs just in the 30's and it stays that way into early next week. thursday and friday, a chance for a dusting of snow. a really tough time with this bout of energy coming through. it could mean a limit of an issue friday morning. kellye: ok. we thank you for joining us and hope you have a great night. come back at 11:00.
