waiting as howard county high school students head back to class tomorrow. their classmate was killed overnight. she was shot to death in her ellicott city home earlier this morning. anna-lysa gayle reports on how the community is stepping up to help. anna-lysa: on social media, students are asking classmates monday as theyn mourn the loss of 16-year-old charlotte. are findingmbers ways to reach young people who are having a difficult time with coping with their loss. showommunity continues to assistance for the family following a deadly attack inside their home new year's day. it all started at about 2 a.m. heard a mother scuffle inside of the bedroom. the gun man shot himself, charlotte, and her mother.

kellye: 2016 was an eventful year in our area. now, tom roussey shares the top five events. tom: number five, murder spree arrest. a man allegedly terrorized the maryland suburbs for two days, after he killed his life gladys in the high point high school parking lot. the next day he allegedly shot at montgomery and akilling two people woman at an aspen hill shopping center before being arrested. number four, ellicott city flood. july 24, six inches of rain hit ellicott
