first, tragedy takes another turn in ellicott city. the police believe gunfire that killed a teenager come injured her mother, may have been random. the teenage shooter, a church altar boy, is now dead after turning the gun on himself. the community in ellicott city is trying to come to term

a sudden death of the 16-year-old charlotte. jay korff has the latest on the heartbreaking search for answer. lot the police released a of information today about a tragedy that impacted so many, but in many ways remains a mystery. outside this had ellicott city house, the memorial grows for young life taken early. mourners held a private vigil for sean, who the police say shot and killed charlotte and turned the gun on himself. the tragedy began about two hours into the new year. >> suzanne, charlotte's mother, heard a scuffle in her daughter's bedroom. jay: they believe that charlotte was struggling with sean. her mother was wounded. >> detectives have found no link between the suspects and the victims. >>

went to the same school and lived in the same neighborhood. that is where the connection seem to have ended. the police have linked crizer weith a couple burglaries earlir the week. >> i'm in shock. i am so overwhelmed and shocked. he is a little boy. jay: detectives will continue to information information, lookit cell phone records, talking to family, friends, looking at social media to figure out what happened and determine the motive. jay korff, abc 7 news. jonathan: we have an update in the case of a missing bethesda man. a woman was caught on surveillance tape walking into shops come using his credit card. she rang up john donahoe's credit card to the tune of $700. that woman is in custody after turning herself in, charged with credit card

bush is attending with laura bush. it is tradition for former presidents to attend. with just 17 days until the big event, people are getting ready, either to celebrate or protest. one group is preparing by doing this, rolling joints. the group is pushing for legalization of marijuana throughout the country. they will hand out free pot and tell people to lie to four minutes and 20 seconds into trump's speech. the group is one of many planning to demonstrate for specific causes. president-elect on a trump has not been specific policy, but says he supports medical marijuana. people in arlington county are taking steps to legalizing it. tim barber joins us live to explain. tim, how will they do it? tim: the arlington county

senate federation held a meeting. they pass this measure 50-1 to support medical marijuana. alreadymarijuana is available in d.c. and dozens of states across the country. tonight, arlington residents could be one step closer to getting the same access. the county civic federation, made up of dozens of local organizations, approved a pro-medical marijuana legislation, rich rules that legal drugs like alcohol and tobacco are already legal. says that cannabis can address a patient's pain, nausea, and lack of appetite. >> medical marijuana in its own right is very legitimate. tim: a republican delegate points to federal law that says medical marijuana still a schedule one drug.

welfare league of arlington captured it and brought it back to the shelter. they thought it would be a snake they were expecting, but they realized it was a yellow anaconda. imagine lifting your toilet seat and seeing this. animal welfare league of arlington says that is what happened last tuesday. a spokesperson said one of its officers was able to remove this snake from the toilet. it is a yellow anaconda. it is a juvenile, but still between four and five feet long. >> i like reptiles myself, but anaconda is too much for me. bit the news is a unnerving. the animal welfare league would not say which apartment the snake was found in, but said it is on south 31st street, which is ensure linkedin. complexyee at one confirmed a snake incident last week, but cannot say it was the same snake. the welfare league believes the

istanbul. the authorities are getting close, saying they have his name and fingerprints and they have arrested a 16 people who may also be connected with the shooting. the police believe the attacker may have had weapons training and may have been in isis fighter. investigators say he arrived in turkey with his wife and two children. that was back in mid-november. jonathan: right now a manhunt is underway for a an inmate whiskey to a maximum prison in rhode island over the weekend. an inmate that- escaped a maximum-security prison in rhode island over the weekend. the authorities believe that james morales may have hurt himself during the breakout. he was in custody for stealing guns from a military armory and is suspected in a child sex assault case. alison: thieves pulled off a $6 million jewelry heist in manhattan. here is surveillance video.
