sources say the briefing had always been scheduled for friday. donald trump continues to doubt the hack was russia. the wikileaks founder is saying the e-mails stolen came from another source. >> we have said repeatedly over the last two months that our source is not the russian government, and it is not state party. he denied ever speaking to vladimir putin, trump, or any of their surrogates, but they say russian operatives used a middle man to cover their tracks. and the president-elect weighed in on republican plans to gut the office of congressional ethics adding to the pressure they were facing from constituents, and it didn't take long for lawmakers to do an about face. >> reporter: a new year, a new congress.

both the civil and voting rights records of the attorney general nominee. a spokesperson says sessions dedicated his career to upholding the rule of the law. and the sentencing phase begins today for dylann roof. he's representing himself as he tried to avoid the death penalty. the same jury that convicted him will now decide his fate. firefighters arriving at a blaze in kansas city were confronted by a massive explosion. they believe it was ammunition inside this lawn care business and some smaller explosions continued after that. the first blast was so strong it blew out windows in dozens of nearby apartments and houses. it's believed there are no injuries or deaths at this time. firefighters say they won't try to enter the building until daybreak. powerful storms in california. at least three storms are
