headquarters inside the canadian embassy, and the spot is spectacular. it gives us a good vantage point of everything down on the national mall. the view behind us is spectacular. it gives you a great shot of the u.s. capitol, where the 58 presidential inauguration will take place. the setup continues two days before this historic event. you can see the risers on pennsylvania avenue. this is the parade route. we are talking everything from the parade to security. the joint task force in the national capital region, comprised of over 5000 service members, will lead military support on friday. there is a lot to set up as they get ready. hundreds of thousands expected, homeland security expecting over 800,000 people to attend, with tickets and without. we spoke to one veteran who is excited to be here. >> in person he is a

caring, capable individual. that is what got our attention to begin with. coming from a german family in illinois, i can tell you we need to get things done. tag for theice inauguration could surpass $200 million. more than half the bill will be paid by taxpayers, the other by big money donors and corporations. even with the hefty price tag, it might be significantly less glitzy than other inaugurations. donald trump is only hosting three inaugural balls. john gonzalez, back to you inside. melanie: our team coverage continues with sam sweeney, who is looking at in awe duration restrictions there already, making it more difficult to get around in the district. sam: we are two days away from the inauguration, and here in the heart of washington, d.c., outside the executive office building, you can feel it. final touches are bein

at noon today, the parking restrictions went into place. at thes no more parking red zone, ground zero, all around the white house, the national mall, the capitol, federal triangle. you can see right now things are moving smoothly here along 17th street, 18th street. all around the white house, the streets are open, but that is going to change. we will out loan the red zone area all around the national mall, which will start to see the street closures tomorrow, as early as 5:00 a.m. as you come into the district early in the morning, you will have no problems. that in the afternoon, some of those roads will be closing. they will do it throughout the day, not all at once. so your parking garage may get locked. you certainly want

parking garage may get blocked. keep that in mind. capitol bike shares are behind this fence. all of the capital bike share stations within the red zone during thet down inaugural festivities. if you plan on coming into downtown washington thursday or friday, into the red zone, leave the car at home and take public transportation. i am sam sweeney. back to you in the studio. melanie: metro has announced it will open two hours early saturday to accommodate the large crowd headed to the women's march on washington. trains will run at 5:00 a.m. and will add up to two dozen additional trains. meanwhile, more anti-trump are planned for tonight. last night things got pretty extreme outside a trump hotel in northwest. one man ended up setting himself on fire outside the hotel.

neighborhood. he was in his own car and started following the mercedes-benz. the driver and a passenger of and,ercedes were concerned not recommended, stopped their vehicle and fired at least one shot at the off-duty officer. the officer returned fire. that is when the mercedes continued driving away. the officer dropped back -- dropped back, radioed, and a pursuit took place. the shaw neighborhood is one that is very highly attracted by millennials and families and lots of businesses in this area. the car came down 5th street when it spun out here and crashed. crime tax are processing the car right now. techsdividuals -- crimes are processing the

now. two individuals were arrested. >> he got the sense that the police were following him, which caused him to get out. he fired multiple times, broad daylight on a city street. kevin: during the press conference i was asked -- we asked the police chief if any officers were wearing their body cameras and if they were activated, to get everyone a better sense of how this played out. he also told us a handgun from that mercedes-benz has been recovered. live in northwest, kevin lewis, abc 7 news. melanie: thanks very much. after a foggy start, the sun is shining. looks like a pretty good day. through, warm front is and evidence of that is the current temperature -- 59 already. the northwesterly wind is at 18. it is going to be a very pleasant wednesday afternoon.

tomorrow. we will fall off a little bit later as temperatures drop this afternoon and this evening, through the 50's and into the 40's. even tonight, temperatures will stay well above average. the leading edge of the warm front passing through the baltimore area, east of there. high pressure builds in today and again tomorrow. tomorrow, a bit cooler. still lower 50's to mid 50's. then we keep our eyes off to the west. that area of rain stretches all the way to the gulf coast. that area will expand. the latest computer modeling arrives the rain will later in the afternoon. most of it will be centered around the next front coming through. as we get to the afternoon and evening hours, it looks like the rain should end. another outlook -- the possibility of rain as early as 9:00 a.m. in spots. right around noon it

stop -- it will start, and then it will taper off. more coming up in six or seven minutes. melanie: developing out of texas, former president george h w bush is in the hospital. a spokesperson says he was taken to houston methodist hospital on saturday for shortness of breath, but his office says he is responding to treatment and could be released soon. the 92-year-old has battled several health issues in recent years, including parkinson's. president obama will hold his final press conference as commander in chief, following a presidential tradition to have a final q&a with reporters in the white house. mr. obama is expected to face questions about his legacy, about the alleged russian meddling in the election, and his commutation of chelsea manning's prison sentence. today the white house is defending that controversial decision.

when she was see williams again, but she hopes it will be soon. williams is in jail, due back in court in three weeks. abc 7 is on stormwatch, where severe storms have overwhelmed houston, texas. rain is flooding the streets. you can see this bus and other vehicles trapped in the rising floodwaters. while no one was hurt, the flooding is expected to last for a few days because of all the rain. a tough situation for them. be talking we might about with a couple of inches of snow, if it was another year. doug: the warmer than average pattern will continue right through the end of the month. maybe in early february we will go back to cold weather. the clouds this morning moved out. when you woke up this morning, many areas looks like this -- dense fog in some spots. a lot of low clouds, but

it will be moving eastward. there is a possibility of rain in downtown washington at noon. with the models trending earlier , it is not out of the question that the rain could arrive a little bit earlier than noon. if you are going to be outside, plan ahead. do not expect thunderstorms or anything like that, but rain and temperatures mostly in the upper 40's. by very late in the afternoon, the rain will make an exit and we will see a touch of clearing late friday afternoon and evening. tomorrow afternoon between 4:00 and 6:00, the inaugural concert. temperatures are comfortable for this time in january. lower 50's, dropping into the upper 40's. the updated inaugural outlook calls for a chance of rain in the morning, more likely closer to noon. temperatures chilly but not terribly cold. we will see the rain through the mid afternoon and after that conditions should look
