three men arrested. none had outstanding residents. a similar story in texas where a domestic violence victim was arrested at a courthouse. she was there for a hearing against a man accused of beating her. then today, the "associated press" obtained a draft memo that floated the idea of using 100,000 national guard troops to round up illegal immigrants. the white house and the homeland security denied that saying the idea was never seriously considered. but the combination of raids and that report has immigrants now living in fear. northern virginia bureau chief jeff goldberg joins us from annandale where a raid was carried out today. what can you tell us? jeff: well, michelle, the raid taking place this morning at the fairmont gardens apartment complex in annandale. we were able to cob tain cell phone video of the operation by i.c.e. reportedly six people detained in the raid. according to i.c.e. these are undocumented immigrants with criminal residents. people living here say they

complex in the past few weeks and there is great concern that the trend will only continue. >> we are so afraid now. we are so scared. jeff: lillian has lived as an undocumented immigrant in falls church for 15 years since moving from honduras. she has four children under the age of 14. all u.s. citizens and these days she is preparing them for the possibility she could be deported at any time. all of the family's important papers birth certificate and contact numbers are kept in this backpack. >> i tell them, they have to be prepared. they have to be ready. always we have to say we are not sure. >> it's paralyzing the community. that is something not sustainable. >> edgar is where the legal aid justice center in falls church. the organization is providing help for undocumented immigrants increasingly concerned abou

deportation, including passing out cards what to do if approached by law enforcement. >> we don't know what is the intention of this administration. but we are here ready to fight together with the community. >> lillian says she is ready to fight, too. >> we are not bad people. we are trying to work to be better. this is our home. jeff: in regard to the operation here this morning, i.c.e. saying this. i.c.e. conducts targeted immigration enforcement in compliance with federal law and agency policy. i.c.e. do not conduct raids to target aliens indiscriminately. i spoke to a source that told me agents are only going after undocumented immigrants with criminal records and telling me that agents have no desire to separate mothers and fathers from their children. live in annandale, jeff

goldberg, abc7 news. michelle: the fear in the community has sparked fairfax county to try to reassure substitutes and their families who are undocumented. key mill elementary school is one of several that sent an e-mail to parents. it reads in part -- there are no reports of i.c.e. officials visiting schools or stopping students from attending school in fairfax county. that should not occur at schools unless under do gent circumstance -- exo gent circumstances. jonathan: this was the scene today outside the ice office in fairfax the latest figures show 700 people have been arrested in six states in the past week. today was back to normal after yesterday was a walk-out day. they noticed slower service, that is if the restaurants were open in the first place. yesterday was a day without immigrants and a protest nationwide.

tuesday. jonathan: it was an uncontrolled blaze that took hours to knock down. a huge warehouse. you can see it behind me. it took 120 firefighters working seven hours to knock the fire down. it was a vacant warehouse in northwest baltimore. you think okay, a vacant warehouse. but at times this fire was so intense that the police had to shut down interstate 83. nobody was injured. this is the second time that the fire ripped through a fair house on that street. the first time it happened 22 years ago. considered one of the worst fires in baltimore history because a firefighter was killed while fighting that. others barely escaped with their lives. >> you can hear the rumble as it was coming down, heading your way. when i ran out -- i basically dove the last couple of feet as i was getting out. you could hear it coming behind you. like a freight train. jonathan: the wall collapsed and everyone was running for cover. firefighters who survived the 1995 fr

address called last night brought all kind of memories flooding back. michelle: metro is warning employees they will no longer tolerate workers not showing up as schedule. general manager paul wiedefeld said workers took 181,000 days of sick or unpaid leave last year a 6% increase. all that missed work forced the agency to increase overtime to cover the missing workers. new policies are going into place limiting unexcused absences. the metro g.m. said the change should save $2 million a year. jonathan: all right. a long week. you need a smile. look at the tv. that is a stowaway. caught in the act! the raccoon hit the mother lode for trash but he ended up going on a wild ride. wait until you hear the story. michelle: and frightening video. a man takes aim at a news helicopter. then fires at police from a window. who we just found out he is and what happened next.

california. caught on video. he is shooting at police officers. police shut down a nearby interstate as a precaution. eventually the guy walks out of his home, begins spray painting his house and his car. moments later he is back with the rifle. then he points it, watch this, straight up in the air at the news helicopter that is videotaping the whole scene. police were forced to shoot this guy. they did and then arrested him. he is the c.e.o. of micro systems. no word on a motive. michelle: a florida man faces charges of plotting to bomb target stores and get rich as a result. mark barnett planned to set off bombs at target stores at florida, virginia and new york. the goal is to drive down the price of the target stock and buy low and sell high when the stock rebounded. universities say an accomplish was supposed to leave bombs in the stores and gave them to police instead. jonathan: they were american citen

his rig on federalrick, maryland,overpass, the cab going airborne. investigators suspect he fell asleep at the wheel. the cell phone video shows how an alleged sleepy fedex truck driver caused a chaun reaction crash. 328,000 drowsery driving crashes each year according to a.a.a. 109,000 people injured. 6400 people are killed. >> you start to follow them. they will be weaverring in and out. they catch your eye. richard: virginia state trooper recalls a case. a driver crashing in another car going 75-mile-per-hour. >> she said she had no idea what happened. she said she slept three hours the night before. reporter: paula adams now takes a break every two hours on long distance trips. >> i get groggy, tired. i pull over. richard: the two-hour road is a good idea and call it a night on longer trips. >> if you are exhausted, don't drive.

like it will turn cooler because of a change in the wind direction northeast. so delightful spring like weather. if you missed it earlier the highs of 66 degrees we are forecasting for the weekend are the average highs for the middle of april in washington. a two-month jump for feeling like springtime. the average high is 48 degrees. for the day on monday, george washington parade in old town alexandria kicks off at 1:00. delightful weather. mid-to-upper 50's with plenty of sunshine. winds out of the northeast at 5 to 10 miles per hour. look ahead for the next ten days. here is what we have. warm spring like weather this weekend. cooler on monday. cooler still on tuesday. warming up to the low to mid-60's on wednesday, thursday, friday of next week. then stretching out the days eight, nine, ten. it looks like we are start to turn a bit cooler by the end of next weekend but those numbers remain above average. no signs of any major storms in the next fen

days. no sign of bitterly cold air.th. speaking of the cold, we have to go skiing in this kind of weather. it's nice. you probably don't need a jacket. liberty mountain ski resort is hoping the warm weekend is a boom for them. all week they have been making snow around the clock so it can be open all holiday weekend. the skiers we saw today were ditching the hats and gloves and enjoying the skiing in the warm sunshine. jonathan: there is nothing better than spring skiing. michelle: that is my kind of skiing. jonathan: good stuf michelle: yeah. e. -- erin: reminds me of skiing in california. it's weird but it works. jonathan: talk about baseball. this is the weather replay baseball. erin: absolutely! dusty baker has accomplished so much in his career. but there is one major accomplishments he hasn't achieved as a manager. what would he do if this was the year he won it all? the answer next.
