announcer: abc 7 news, this is a breaking news alert. >> we begin with that breaking news this noon. violence in southeast d.c. police investigating both a stabbing as well as a double shooting. now this is the video that just got into the abc 7 news room connected to one of those crimes. our sam sweeney is live for us there. what can you tell us? >> well, all of this unfolding at 9th and alabama. this is the shooting scene behind me that is still very active. but the first call came in for a stabbing. we will spin around and show you the situation. it took place at that house right there. we believe that was a domestic incident. if we can go to the video, we

hauled out in handcuffs and arrested. then you have a shooting that took place just moments after that. police noticed -- notified by our shots by the camera system. when they arrived, they found two men on the ground in front of that home. you see all gun shell casings. both taken to the hospital, one in surgery right now in critical condition. there were two hard hats nearby. we were told they were both construction workers, not in this area, but they were walking around the street when the shooter approached them in a mask, fired the shots and then took off on foot. there is no suspect description or motive at this time. we are working to find out new details, and as soon as we have them, we will pass them along. in the meantime, alabama and ninth street remains closed. reporting live in southeast, sam sweeney. back to you.

come to grips after a house fire claims the life of a young bonino. q mccray with more. >> just a sad story all-around here. we are going to show our viewers what the scene looks like. we are in the 8100 block of arcade street here. you will notice the garage. we are told the fire started in the garage and then spread upwards to the second floor where the baby was found dead by firefighters. we have video to show you. the fire sparked at 5:20. we rushed over here as soon as we found out. you see the firefighters and olice cruisers in the video. according to firefighters, there were two adults in the home at the time of the fire. they were able to get themselves out of the home. she told also the two adults are the parents are the boy. she was jogging by when she heard the mom screaming for help and scream fwog her son, who was still inside the burning home.

she says she is haunted by the memory. >> i thought about it all night. hearing her crying her baby's name, it was really tough. sorry. feel for her. the mom and dad were rushed to the hospital, and they will be ok. two good samaritans and a neighbor, they tried to make their way inside to save the boy, but they were unsuccessful. they were rushed to the hospital as well, and they will be ok. the fire was intense. look at the front grill of this s.u.v. here. it is meloed. over here, the headlights ruined. the cause of the fire is still under investigation. we also found out that two pets died in the fire as well. that is the latest here. i am q mccray. back to you. >> sad story. just a couple of hours, conservative

montgomery county. you can see it from above. crews were able to get it under control quickly. warm temperature the like the ones we are seeing right now aren't helping situations like that one. chief meteorologist doug hill with a look at the forecast. >> cloudy in the hagerstown area. outside our studios, sunshine. the forecast for the majority of the area will be partly sunny. the fires we have seen the past few days, not only the warmer temperatures, but the lack of rain. we are in a moderate drought for the d.c. metro southwest ward to the southern foothills of the blue ridge. far western areas east of town abnormal ally dry. we have had very little rain for the past couple of months. since the first of the month, we are running about 1.87 inches blow rainfall at reagan national, and

in the area. futurecast shows that overnight a couple of showers with the leading edge of the warm air could come in. temperatures overnight in the 50's in the metro area. showers a possibility and fog too. through the day, a little sunshine, warming to the lower sevastovas and showers as well. for the next 48 hours, temperatures will drop to about 50 tonight, lower foists. then an overnight shower. suttonly and an isolated shower tomorrow. on friday, about 72. as the mild weather continues, and night time fog is a perm. we look ated to the extended outlook of the weekend. first a shower possibility tomorrow. friday, partly clourd. saturday, not much sunshine, but a cold front will come through during the midday or afternoon. we could still hit 70's. showers and thunderstorms a possibility saturday afternoon.
