[siren] jonathan: dramatic new video just in the newsroom. shootout in northeast that happened last night. you can see an officer down. one of two officers shot in the exchange. both are expected to pull through. for the gunman, he was killed. stephen tschida is at the live desk with more of the video and d.c.'s acting police chief and what he had to say about it. stephen: the cell phone video is compelling and it raises questions. did the suspect who looks to be on the ground pose a threat? two officers wounded. a suspect shot and killed. it appears he is down on the ground when the fatal shots are fired. >> that is one angle of the incident. i think that particular individual was also interviewed and he suggested in the course of the interview that was one partial view of the incident after the incident had already began. we, of course, will locate that individual and get his version of events and compile that with the other information we have. we have other additional witnesses who have come forward. >> we got more today on what went down in the moments before the shooting. two d.c. officers on the crime suppression team responded to reports of gunfire. they tried to find the suspect. he took off running. the officers caught him and started to struggle. the video captures the point when the officer started firing. only one officer opened fire. body cam video likely will be crucial to determine whether the suspect who appears to be on t

gathered. friends and the extended family have come to the house to try to help the surviving daughter somehow get through this tragedy. in the family's tidy brick home it started as an argument familiar to any parent and teen. a mother wanting her son to quit playing a video game and to watch his language. the teenager resisting. except in this case the allegation is it became physical and sources say the mother angelique chase left her son, went to the basement and returned sometime after the argument with a handgun, a revolve. chase pointed the gun at chisser if perry -- christopher perry, her own son. and pulled the trigger. >> she has admitted her involvement in killing her son. >> she claimed she was in the act of lowering the gun when it went off but tonight she is behind bars facing a charge of first

the family is devastated by what happened. neighbors say the 17-year-old perry was a good kid and chase seemed like a good mom. >> to me this is a great loss. the mother is going through a loss right now. >> you are looking at the house on the first floor there. that is where the shooting took place. when we come back at 5:00, we will tell you more about why prosecutors are charging first-degree murder in this case when there had by all accounts previously been a tussle. in clinton, brad bell, abc7 news. michelle: in howard county a man is in critical condition after an officer shot him. the officer was getting dorsey's car towed before discovering there were warrants out for his arrest. dorsey jumped in the car and drive at the officer forcing him to fire. he is still in the hospital. alison: we have an update to a critical story you might see out there. amber

john: jennifer jansen was having trouble with the new laptop. when the tech rep called she thought microsoft was trying to help. >> i truly believed it. my computer hasn't been working correctly. john: the rep told her to log on to a website fix her p.c. >> i let them go in the computer where they could do everything from inside the computer. john: suddenly the caller said she needed to pay him $300. with gift cards. >> you need to go to a wal-mart and buy the itune cards from wal-mart in increments in $150. >> she realized she had been scammed. what makes the scam so convincing is that the caller is so professional and slick. he will tell you to log on to your computer and you will see what he is talking about. >> they actually had me go in

thousands of sex predators. d.c. police catch up to a suspect. a struggle ensues and then -- [sirens] deadly gunfire at close range. announcer: now, "abc7 news at 5:00". on your side. alison: tonight two d.c. police officers are recovering and a suspect is dead after a shootout in northeast. this is new cell phone video taken at the scene. d.c. bureau chief sam ford monitoring developments in this case. sam? sam: yes, alison. we are here at the holbrook and morse in northeast washington where this confrontation with the suspect began. you can see the crime tape is still here on the scene. chief peter newsham came back to the scene this afternoon to answer many questions surrounding the incident. he said earlier yesterday evening shots were fired in the area so the fifth district

suppression team in. around 10:40, they spotted 47-year-old timothy lionel williams on foot. when they tried to stop him a struggle ensued. followed by gunfire police said. a citizen's cell phone video appears to show the suspect shot on the ground. two officers were shot in the incident. and williams of no fixed address was killed. police say they recovered a semi automatic handgun from the scene. the chief said both officers body worn cameras were on. he has seen the video and is recommending that the mayor release the video if the u.s. attorney agrees. the chief said much evidence is being review and looking at just the cell phone video is not enough. >> one partial, a view of the incident after the incident had already began. we of course will locate the individual and get his version of events. and compile that with the other information that we have. we hv
