and rain and the return of the springlike air. the news starts right now. 11:00 starts at right now with breaking news. inace: i'm horace holmes, for kimberly tonight. a deadly house fire on southbridge street, where cheryl conner is live with more. the arlington, county fire department remains on the scene with several crews going inside of the home. the fire started at about 9:00 tonight, knocked down a short time later, but shortly after that we learned one person was pronounced dead on scene and one person taken to the hospital in critical condition. the fire department not giving any more information. neighbors are telling us they are a couple in their 70's who lived in the home.

went off inside the home, but what we do know is this was a two alarm fire that started just a couple hours ago. listen now to the conditions firefighters faced inside. hoarding conditions slowed their ability to get inside and find the victims. going inrews are still and out of the home on southbridge street in arlington. he will be here some time working on hotspots. very sad news that we have learned one person died in this house fire, another person is suffering from life-threatening injuries. cheryl conner, abc 7 news. horace: and it has been a rough start to the weekend after a tragic friday in charles county. three deadly car accidents in waldorf left

including a young mother, an 18-year-old man, and two teenagers from westlake high school. will bea: monday there grief counselors at westlake high school to help students who may need to express their feelings. in waldorf, there were three separate fatal crashes in less than 24 hours. makeshift memorials continue to grow at the crash sites in waldorf after a total of four people lost their lives friday in separate crashes, including three teenagers and a 25-year-old mother. >> you don't pay attention to how fast you are going until something like this happens. westlake high school students passed away at this intersection at about 12:30. later, a woman was pronounced dead after hitting a tree on highway 301. and then another tree was struck on st. pet
