>> announcer: from abc news, this is "world news now." good morning to you on this wednesday. and, it is horrible to even think about, just imagine the horror for dozens of bus passengers. sitting there on the bus, trapped on train tracks as a freight train comes barreling towards you. >> members of ntsb will arrive on the scene of the train crash later today. workers used a crane to lift of what is left of the bus from the wreckage. at least four people dead, dozens injured. >> a witness says it appears the bus be came stuck minutes before the train approached. abc's marc remilard has all the details. >> reporter: a scene of shattered glass and twisted metal in mississippi. >> a terrible scene. >> reporter: rescue crews rushing injured passengers to the hospital after a freight train smashed into a charter bus. >> terrible tragedy. pacted here. of families and i just want everyone to know that we are doing everything

that we can do to help everyone on the, on that bus. >> reporter: about 50 people on board headed to a biloxi casino. dozens injured. some managed to walk away from the crash state to waiting ambulances. >> everybody knows everybody. and so, any body that is hurt, you are going to be worried about. >> reporter: witnesses say the bus was driving across the tersection slightly elevated when it got stuck. >> front wheels went up and over. center of the bus stopped on the track. arms started coming down and hit the bus. >> reporter: mark robinson saw the desperate struggle to get out of the way. >> the conductor, think he tried everything in his power to stop the train before it impacted on, on that bus. but, you know the momentum was too much weight going forward. >> the train was honking, honking. you know, the bus looked like it bottom out. you could see the train just, it was gone. >> reporter: the impact pushed the bus 200 feet down the tracks before finally coming to a stop.

crews from across the area responded. police chief says a lot of credit goes to the bus passengers. >> the folks on the bus, alert, they were just a lot of help. they helped themselves, helped the people around them t as the passengers recover, investigators keep searching for answers. >> and another crash involving a train under investigation this morning, a freight train carrying hazardous material, derailed in the new york hudson valley. after striking a forklift driven across the tracks. the collision left the train engine resting in the road. diesel fuel was spilled. none of the hazardous cargo, two injuries reported. >> turning to wildfires raging across the nation's midsection. at least six people have been killed. thousands more forced to evacuate. dry conditions and low humidity are fueling flames that have so far ripped through hundreds of square miles across four midwestern states. and the other major struggle for firefighters has been high winds. >> when the nd

a way to ease tensions coming from an unlikely country. china proposing that north korea suspend its nuclear and missile activities in exchange for a halt in joint military drills conducted in the region by the u.s. and south korea. china's foreign minister also said south korea is making a mistake in deploying its new anti-new u.s. anti-missile defense system. as tens of thousand of north koreans rallied in pyongyang to support the country's latest missile launches. china compares escalating dispute to a looming head on collision. eric garcetti, winning an overwhelming victory against ten little known challengers. early returns had garcetti winning 80% of the vote. he thanked citizens of l.a. but said he is getting back to work today doing the job he loves for the city.

wouldn't be the case. >> we know after the old, wife carrying incident, that you would not do very well in that situation. >> clearly, you thought the only thing i couldn't carry was a note. now to the investigation, involving a day care worker who appears to push a 4-year-old down a flight of stairs. >> authorities say the worker spotted a newly installed security camera, right after it happened. abc's lindsay janice has more. >> reporter: this disturbing video shows a 4-year-old girl apparently being shoved down the stairs at a day care. the worker then appears to notice the camera. at that point she holds the little girl's hand and walks her down the steps. the little girl was shaken up. just like -- and i'm any just like, like, her eyes literally were like, help me. that day care manager happened to be watching on a new camera that had just been installed a half-hour earlier. so i went, confronted her at the bottom of the stairs. e little girl wasn't injured. but the day care worker, sarah
