two in front of the white house here. they are essentially, they say, fighting for their rights, abortion rights and against what they call president trump's global gag rule, a policy that prohibits non-u.s. organizations from getting money from the u.s. to provide abortion services. they are having a speaking portion of the event. they did some marching. let's talk to one of the protesters here. you marched moments ago and just arrived at the park. >> to me it is simple. ,uman rights, women rights equal. they are all the same. we feel it is time to bring it to everybody's attention again. john: thank you so much. these folks believe that this policy will help with 6 million unauthorized pregnancies and some 2 million unsafe abortions. president trump has made it clear during his campaign and as commander in chief that

been pro-life and antiabortion and he said he needs to defend all americans, including the unborn. the crowd is growing here at lafayette square, very vocal this afternoon. jummy: the protest where he is happens to be on the same day as a day without a woman. females across the country are taking part by staying home from work, not shopping, and wearing the color red. many businesses are closed, but we found one that chose to stay open. suzanne kennedy explains why. suzanne: they are mixing up picked goods and serving up coffee here. this woman-owned business choosing to stay open today on the day without a woman. bakery employs nearly a dozen women. they still have to make money in order to meet their bottom line as well as pay their all-female staff. goy did not want the data unnoticed, so like they did on th

they are giving part of their proceeds to charity. >> we needed to give part of our sales to civics for change, to give professional clothing to low income women in the d.c. area. has a full-time job or needs to get to a job every day, so the fact that we are contributing to an organization that allows people to have the proper clothing to get to work, that is something then needs to be done more in the city, and i am happy to be part of a community that does that. suzanne: today women are being asked not to spend money, and if they do, spend it at a place like this one, a woman-owned business. back to you. jummy: this is having a big impact on local schools, too. many are closing for the day because female teachers and staff are choosing to stay home. prince george's county public schools, as well as the city center charter school,

minnesota state capitol. one of the people arrested was senator tim kaine's son. sam sweeney is at the live desk with more. sam: police arrested lynwood , in st. paul, minnesota, at a pro-trump rally. allegedlys son was interrupting the row -- was allegedly disrupting the rally. writingcing felony charges. this morning, senator kaine and his wife released a statement, saying, "we love that our three children have their own views about political issues and they fully understand the responsibility to express those concerns peacefully." the incident happened saturday afternoon. he was released from jail yesterday morning. back upstairs to you. now.: to some other news police arresting a laurel man after he led officers on a 22 mile car chase.

afternoon, we are hearing from virginia power, telling us georgetown pike, which has been closed for most of the morning and now into the afternoon, will remain that way for quite some time. we had a poll across the roadway -- we had a pole across the roadway. the big picture map not showing a lot of red, but we have a closure in the district. metropolitan police say take an alternate route. we have a fire on u street, with major problems being caused on b street. an accident in greenbelt blocked the right lane. the trip to lanham is going to be a bit slow.

>> you are watching abc 7 news at noon, on your side. jummy: we have a developing story out of the middle east. at least 30 people are dead, 50 wounded after a gunman shot at and military hospital in kabul. the islamic state claimed responsibility for the attack. the attackers were dressed like health workers, and afghan forces had to fight them floor by floor. the country's president condemning the attack during an international women's day speech. closer to home, ntsb officials are in mississippi, investigating a deadly train versus bus crash. four people died, 40 others injured. the train pushed the bus 300 feet up the tracks before coming to rest. slow downtor tried to to prevent the accident, but it did not work. it took rescuers more than an hour to pull the victims from the wreckage. we want to get to those deadly wildfires that are sweeping

goes, you do not see any clouds because we are under the influence of high pressure. as we get into early friday morning, that is the next chance of precipitation. likely a few showers, but early in the morning it will still be close to 50 degrees. on flakes the fall will melt contacts, and it will turn into a partly sunny day on friday through the afternoon and evening. temperatures will fall into the 40's, and over the weekend it gets cold. saturday night, we turn the clocks ahead one hour as we go back to daylight saving time. highs are only in the upper 30's saturday and sunday with sunshine. stormks as though that system will stay well south of the washington area, so no flakes in the forecast. the richmond area may get a few flakes. then it will warm up but stay pretty much at or below average temperatures for a bit longer. spring will return

jummy: right now, fall out from the nude photo scandal rocking the marine corps. one of the victims is speaking out after a private face group -- facebook group surfaced. martha has the latest details. >> overnight, women telling their painful stories. >> i felt like my privacy had been taken away from me. having to go through being harassed constantly every day of my life for the past year just because of a mistake that i made four years ago. it is not anything that anyone deserves to go through. >> former private kelly wayne accusing her ex-boyfriend, also a marine, of sharing a private tape online they had made together. she says it was linked to a private marine facebook page. >> iis

extremely widespread. if it happened to me, it has got to be happening to a lot of other females. >> wayne joined the marines in 2013 but was removed three years later from unrelated misconduct. the allegations are shocking. marines sharing a list of photos links to a private facebook group with tens of thousands of members. the photos reportedly numbering in the hundreds, possibly thousands, said to include two dozen women, some identified by name and rank and where they serve, many attracting obscene comments from members of the group before the photos were taken down. commandant of the marine corps called an embarrassing to the marines. >> when i hear allegations of marines denigrating their fellow marines, i do not think that is the behavior of true warriors. says that hennan discovered the photos connected to the facebook group. >>
