making news in america this morning, breaking right now, part of president trump's taxes leaking overnight. but many questioning the timing for this release as a health care bill appears to be in trouble and the fbi is weighing in on possible investigation into ties with russia. also breaking overnight changes are coming in the major hack on yahoo. the justice department will make an announcement later but we have details including an alleged connection to the russian government. an american community on edge this morning as authorities search for a highly ven moss cobra. how did it get loose? plus, this -- >> a valuable lesson learned after someone tries to drive a truck on a frozen lake. we'll show you how this ended.

failure to back up his claim that president obama wiretapped him and investigations on russia. >> what do you the -- the russians have on him personally and politically? what will the tax returns tell us about that? >> reporter: this morning the white house fired back attacking media and calling this leaked document illegally obtained by authentic. we still don't know key information like his source of income or charitable donations. diane and kendis. >> all right, our kenneth moton in d.c., thank you. kenneth mentioned the republican health care plan. well protesters turned out in the snow at house speaker paul ryan's office in wisconsin to denounce the plan. >> now, ryan and others who helped craft the proposal are facing fierce criticism this morning. that comes after congressional budget analysts said their plan would result in tens of millions of people losing their coverage. the speaker, though defending it overnight. >> sure, there are people who have concerns or criticisms but

consensus. we have an obligation to keep our promises, to pass the reforms that we told people we would pass if we got this opportunity. >> so ryan and the senate majority leader mitch mcconnell acknowledged they are open to some changes, ryan is hoping to get the plan through the house next week so it can move on to the senate. white house press secretary sean spicer says president trump is, quote, extremely confident that there is evidence to back up the president's wiretapping claims. the justice department has until next monday to turn over any evidence to congressional investigators. that's the same day hearings on russia's interference in last year's election are scheduled to begin. two weeks ago the president alleged on twitter that then president obama ordered his wires tapped at trump tower before the election. a spokesman for former president obama has denied that claim. new this morning china is offering a possible olive branch to the united states when it comes to trade. china's second in command said his country doesn't want a trade war wit

raise import taxes on chinese goods to counter what he says are unfair trade practices that has raised concerns about the possibility of chinese retaliation. also breaking right now, the justice department later today will announce charges in a massive hack affecting yahoo! three in russia and one in canada are set to be charged believed to be connected to the russian government. more than 1 billion yahoo! users were compromised in two separate breaches. >> the nation's top marine facing tough questions from lawmakers about the nude photo scandal. the general there, robert kneller promising to hold the guilty accountable. during an appearance before a senate committee, but some senators say the marines have had plenty of time to improve noting that accusations of online exploitation of women dates back to 2013. >> who is being held accountable for doing nothing since 2013?

california highway shooting. the suspect opened fire during rush hour including injuring rather two drivers on an interstate near san bernardino. both were taken to the hospital. neither is seriously injured. economists expect the central bank to boost interest rates later today when the federal reserve wraps up its two-day meeting. experts say the fed could raise the rate a quarter of a percentage point for the second time in three months. it's encouraged by strong reported monthly job gains and confidence in rising inflation. the move would make the u.s. more attractive as an investment siphoning capital away from emerging markets. a florida neighborhood on high alert because of air missing pet. that pet, highly venomous snake. it escaped from its home in ocala and hasn't been seen since monday. the owner is licensed to have the cobra. he also has two other snakes. officials are still looking into whether the owner violated any laws. rooms

opening 2 hours late. but schools in manassas city and prince william county are closed today. there is a complete list scrolling at the bottom of your screen, or you can see the entire list on our website, w-j-l-a dot-com. metro riders have been dealing with safetrack related delays for months now. but has the work-- been worth it? the government accountability office's newly released audit of safetrack is blasting metro for moving too quickly to begin repairs on a transit system plagued by safety and reliability concerns. g-a-o officials say poor planning as has lead to what they call "unnecessary" delays in service. but metro board members are firing back-- saying they had to move fast. the report did praise safetrack in a number of areas, including improvements in preventative maintenance. 12 of the 16 safetrack surges have been finished. the nation't

capitol hill to answer questions about a nude photo scandal. testifying before the senate armed services committee-- general robert neller strongly condemned those who shared the photos online, and vowed a full investigation. but -- he acknowledged that investigators are having a hard time finding the people responsible. his words-- angered some of the senators. investigators are looking at up to a dozen web sites - involving every branch of the military. happening today the justice department - expected to announce criminal indictments in connection to a hack attack on yahoo! the accused men live in russia and canada. no word on exactly which hack this investigation is connected to. we'll bring you new information as soon as we learn it.
