>> no. >> rats. all right. let's talk about president trump who is heading to capitol hill, of course, this morning but it follows that bombshell fbi announcement. >> that's right. so he has returned to washington after a rally last night in kentucky to push the republican health care plan, but that appears to have been overshadowed by explosive testimony regarding russia and last year's campaign and the president's silence on the issue. >> here's abc's arlette saenz. >> reporter: president trump in campaign mode in kentucky. ♪ trying to shift the focus to health care. >> this is our long awaited chance to finally get rid of obamacare. >> reporter: but back in washington, all eyes were on those stunning admissions from fbi director james comey. >> i have been authorized by the department of justice to confirm that the fbi as part of our counter intelligence mission is investigating the russian government's efforts to interfere in the 2016

>> reporter: in a break from fbi tradition, comey for the first time publicly acknowledged the investigation. that probe includes a look at potential ties between the russian government and the trump campaign. >> because it is an open ongoing investigation and is classified, i cannot say more about what we are doing and whose conduct we are examining. >> reporter: testifying before a congressional committee, he offered this explanation for russia's desire to meddle in the election. >> putin hated secretary clinton so much, that the flipside of that coin was, he had a clear preference running against the person against the person he hated so much. >> the director also refuted trump's tweets alleging president obama wiretapped him. >> director comey, was the present statement that obama had his wires tapped in trump tower a true statement? >> i have no information that ve looked carefully inside the fbi. the department of justice has asked me to share with you that

the answer is the same for the department of justice and all its components. the department has no information that supports those tweets. >> reporter: the white house doubled down on those wiretapping claims. >> he said that there's no information to support the allegations that the president made against president obama. >> at this time. >> so is the president prepared to withdraw that accusation, apologize to the president? >> no, we started a hearing. it's still on going. >> reporter: in the oval office, trump ignored questions on his accusations. >> wiretapping. >> republicans were more focused on a series of leaks, detailing former national security adviser michael flynn's calls with the russian ambassador. >> we aim to determine who has leaked or facilitated leaks of classified information so that these individuals can be brought to justice. >> reporter: but comey would not reveal if the leaks were part of the investigation. >> i can't. but i hope people watching know how

surveillance video in suburban boston capturing a slow speed head-on collision. that white suv rounded the curve in the left lane. police credit the dreifort sedan with smart thinking. he minimized the impact. there were only minor injuries. >> the suspect of baltimore's public enemy number one is under arrest this morning. police say 26-year-old antonio wright turned himself in near the saturday's fire in east baltimore. he's accused of throwing two molotov cocktails into a home killing two teenagers and injuring six other people. one of the victims is in critical condition with life threatening injuries. at least a dozen arrested monday night for rioting outside of a jail in pittsburgh, pennsylvania. police say rioters broke windows at the allegheny county jail as well as windows on multipl

many of the protesters were carrying sticks and wearing masques. authorities are disputing claims by the demonstrators of protests inside the jail. organizers of the protest say they want the jail closed. at least one officer was injured. >> next to the criminal caves oklahoma state senator ralph shorty. his attorneys saying this morning that the senator plans to resign. senator shorty is facing felony child prostitution charges alleging he solicited sex from a 17-year-old boy. oklahoma's state senate voted unanimously last week on a resolution stripping him of most of his legislative privileges. >> the federal government will explain new restrictions this morning on incoming flights from some foreign countries. passengers on direct flights on foreign airlines from airports in certain middle east and african countries will not be allowed to bring electronic devices into the cabin with them, just phones and medical devices. laptops, tablets and pretty up everything else will have to
