dozen more. as it widens, we're showing you parliament. sameament, potentially the thing to be looking at the n washington, d.c., is shut down. members have been secured inside as they were conducting business. this all occurred. it seemed like the driver of that car may very well be the same person that is involved in let's call it incident number two. that is where someone got through the fence line and tried to and effectively did stab uniformed police officer. another officer came to that officer's aid and shot the assailant. we're now hearing the assailant has been killed. we're talking about two incidents that we did not know initially they were connected. we just got the statement being reported from a member of parliament who is relaying information and said it appeared a car was mowing down pedestrians on the way to the house of parliament and got access to the parliamentary estate, stab the police officer an

incident. we don't know how many people in total have been injured, if there are other suspects. is shut down. at least one suspect shot. you can see the chaos that has unfolded. if you're not from a year with this location, this is on the themes river. that is big ben in the center. parliament is to the left. everything shut down. you go,efore we let couple of questions. can you tell us about police in the u.k. and the response? we know they are not armed. scott: there are very few officers who are on a day-to-day handguns inwith london. that is one session in particular where if you want to see that, you will see any officers with heavy artillery. that is because this is basically our version of the u.s. capital. security is very

one of our producers who lived , since ansince 1979 ira attack there. if you roam the streets of london, it is quite difficult to find a police officer who is armed. it is something they have been for quitefend off some time. they like the fact that police officers would walk the beat and have this comfortable, familiarity with neighbors. there was not a need for a show of force with arms. that is not to say they don't have a tremendous and some would argue perhaps one of the best in the world forces to fight terror incidents. and they have staved off quite a few attacks successfully. nonetheless, they have been at with a call severe threat level for quite some time. i've done numerous reports from where you're looking at that corner, and the big green space that you will see at the bottom left of your screen, on terror threat tou

across europe. you can bet you will see european capitals, including here in the united states, on alert after this incident. jummy: another question, we know in the past few years, these same things happening in paris and today being the one year anniversary of the attack in brussels. what is the history of terror attacks in the u.k. and when was the last time we saw possibly another terror attack? scott: we have not seen anything this significant since what they call the 77 bombings in 2005. 52 people were killed when a set of i believe four suicide attacks occurred on trains and in buses all around london. that was a day that shook the entire region as people tried to figure out what is their path moving forward. after that, you had the lee rigby incident, an off-duty soldier. he was not far from his barracks when a couple

lone wolf's, you might want to call them, attacked him and stabbed him to death in the middle of the road. honestly, that put everyone on alert as well. obviously, that put everyone on alert as well. this would appear to have been one that they were unable to fend off. jummy: we will check back in with you a few minutes. in the meantime, we want to get to more breaking news. closer to home, where following reports a woman attempted to jump the white house fence overnight and she got stuck. she was suspended in the air on the other side of the fence. she was not armed. she was arrested immediately by secret service. according to cnn, the woman had a map of the white house in her possession. let's turn to the forecast. you can see a windy day out there. the cold is back as well. temperatures took a major

the third day of spring. doug hill is your with a look at the forecast. look at the live white house. you can see the flag. very strong winds. the late march sun is incredibly strong. it is chilly, but you can feel the heat. temperatures are running a few degrees warmer at noon than we thought they would. 45 at reagan national. 44 in annapolis. i think we will probably wind out in the upper 40's. cooler than average, but ok. clear skies all the way through. tonight, the winds will diminish, dropping into the 30's by late tonight. i think most will wake up to temperatures in the 20's. a pretty good push of high pressure from the north and west. tons of sunshine. the cold front all the way south into north carolina where they were in the middle 80's yesterday. now they will have to shiver through lower 60's today.

british police are looking at as three possible separate incints. they may be connected. the first one is a car went on westminster bridge mowing down people from a multiple people injured. and you have the scene you're looking at where there is a car that crash, the one that was on the bridge, crashing into the fence line in front of parliament as you see more injuries. the third is the stabbing of a police officer inside the fence line of parliament. assailant, that suspect, was shot by police. it would seem probable all three of these are the same, connected. they're just being careful not to link all of them definitively as they investigate this. this is a very active scene. they are saying they're treating them as a terror attack until they can expressly say otherwise. they have extended the cordoned off section to go beyond a parliament square. we know if you look at what they have been doing with

with lately, it is interesting for some perspective. it was last year we were in london doing reporting since they just rolled out what they called their task force, their anti-terror unit to be kind of a stronger group of armed individuals on everything from high-speed motorcycle so they could navigate london traffic quickly to get to incidents to boats on the water. they wanted to make sure they were prepared for any sort of incident. essentially, stepping up their game in an effort to be a little respond quickly to tear incidents. you can imagine a lot of those members are on scene you're seeing right now. additionally, just two days ago, there was a simulation of a hostage taking scenario on one of those tourist both that are constantly going up and down the river, which backs right up to parliament and big bren.
