politicians and reporters going back and forth between the meetings trying to strike a deal. just this morning there was a final all hands on deck huddle for the house republicans abruptly canceled. then the house leadership postponed the vote. speaker paul ryan does not have the vote he needs. at the last count 28 republicans still a firm no on the measure. the vote suddenly scrapped. >> we have discussed options that would bring more yeses than noes to the table. >> this is a tax cut for the wealthy disguised as a really bad so-called healthcare bill. richard: the white house told conservatives this is a final offer but even republicans vowed to vote against the bill. so now they have to come one a new strategy to repeal and replace obamacare. from the "live desk," richard reeve, abc7 news.

postponed hundreds of people marched to trump hotel with signs "we fight back" and "don't take my care." michelle: some democrats are starting to throw up potential roadblocks against the supreme court nominee. chuck schumer says he will lead a filibuster against neil gorsuch. republicans have countered threatening the so-called nuclear option that would require a simple majority vote. typically the supreme court justices require 60 votes for confirmation. >> if this nominee cannot earn 60 votes a bar met by each of president obama's nominees and george bush's last two nominees, the answer isn't to change the rules. it's to change the nominee. >> he knows the difference between speaking for a court and for himself. >> a committee evaluating judge gorsuch gave him

qualified rating. horace: now covering metro and it's official. metro passengers will soon pay more to ride the train and the bus. stephen tschida is joining us live from the dupont circle metro station. how much more and when does it all start? stephen: well, it all starts july 1. i can tell you a lot of the commuters tonight thinking a about the fare increases after the metro board voted today to raise fares and cut service. fewer trains, higher fares heading to metro july 1. >> if i had my druthers i would not have voted for fare increases. i would not have vented for service cuts. stephen: but you did. they all did. they voted unanimously to raise fares. >> all in favor, say aye. >> aye. >> the ayes have it. stephen: peak r

the baby boy when the family dog attacked. deputies shot and killed the dog to stop the attack but it was too late. larry: tonight people in london are paying tribute to the victims of yesterday's terror attack at parliament. several thousand people turned up for candlelight vigil. kurt cochran was killed an his wife was injured. shot and killed the attacker who is a british-born man with a lengthy record. isis claimed responsibility. michelle: for eight months the police are trying to find whoever killed d.n.c. staffer seth rich. now the private investigators are on the job. >> we will look at the timeline and see if individuals have been missed.

horace: police made an arrest after an alabama kidnapping that showed this video where a victim is escaping from the trunk of the car. they have charged town from prison in january after doing five years for marijuana possession. the search for a killer continues tonight after an artist was tied to a chair and stabbed to death. michelle: corrina mehiel's body was found tuesday but her car is still missing. that is not all people are

california. the crews rescue the driver from the car and they fly him to get medical attention. the victim's condition is not known. michelle: a parking battle is heating up in the town center. many diners were not pleased when the once free parking garage turned to pay to park lot. jeff goldberg explains that one business is taking the fight to court. jeff: the restaurant likely speaks for a lot of businesses in reston town center describing the sales these days. manager nick says they are down 20% since the property owner boston properties started charging customers $2 an hour for parking january 1. >> but we are really hurt. our business and the employees. especially the wait staff. >> now jackson's mighty fine food and lucky lounge filed a lawsuit over the parking situation c

robert: no one thought it would happen but it has. john thompson iii fired from georgetown after 13 seasons. the hoyas lost eight of the last nine games this season, finished with a record of 14-18. thompson did have a winning record in his tenure. they have not made the tournament three of the last four years. a statement issued said he is gratedful for the tremendous support. georgetown basketball has been part of my life since 1972 which makes this more impactful but i look forward to my next chapter. something to think about. a name popping up for years now someone who would fit in at georgetown.
