paul ryan but let's get to kevin lewis for the latest. kevin: earlier today, white house press secretary sean spicer told reporters if the bill failed today the president would be done and move on to other priorities, effectively leaving obamacare in place. was he calling congress' bluff or did he mean what he said? in trump's 1987 book he wrote "the worst thing you can possibly do in a deal seem desperate to make it." but it doesn't look good for president, especially on the heels of the so-called muslim been a. this healthcare bill was meant to go to vote yesterday but it was postponed until 3:30 this afternoon. when 3:30 rolled around the bill was withdrawn.

in my body. >> it's one of the worst bills i have ever seen. kevin: so far president trump has not issued any statements or tweets. we will let you know as soon as he does. michelle: thank you. a win for the trump administration in a federal courtroom in alexandria this morning. that is where a judge denied a request by a muslim civil rights group to block the president's revised travel ban. judges in hawaii and maryland already blocked most of the executive order from taking effect. lawyers for that group say they will appeal. alison: now we turn to a developing story out of the district where what feels like a spike in missing people is now starting to get national attention. d.c. bureau chief sam ford told you about the issue earlier this year and is live now with the latest from police headquarters. sam? sam: alison, m.p.d. tried to essentially tell more about missing persons in the city so that the peo

have a more accurate picture. some of the reaction for this, for m.p.d. at least is getting out of hand. an m.p.d. decision to put out reports on all missing persons under age 16 and over age 65 swelled the critical missing person list to dozens on any given day, many teenager girls. police say almost all of them eventually turn up. it has gotten attention and is generating alarm from media to celebrities. for people in the d.m.v. watching this -- >> is it true? you know? if so we need to do something. the police hasn't said there are x amount missing, can you tell me? i'm not sure what it is. >> it's confusing. >> it's confusing. sam: the

from england has a number of different aliases. his first name is adrian russell. the british authorities say they made two more arrests as they search for a motive bringing the total to nine. a tunisian man faces terrorism-related charges in belgium after he sped through a busy shopping area. prosecutors say they found knives, shotgun and a gas can in his car. they also say he was under the influence but didn't say if it was drugs or alcohol. alison: back here at home now, charles county sheriff detectives are trying to figure out why a man shot his wife and two children before killing himself. it happened in waldorf on west dale court. that is where brad bell is live with the newest information in this case. brad? brad: yeah, this entire community sickened by what happened last night. you talked about a motive. at this hour, the motive

remains unknown. neighbors heard screams for help. a voice yelling don't do it. they emerged to feigned -- to find the neighborhood outside bleeding. >> she was crying for help and is trying to tell me what is going on. brad: she heard her neighbor saying she was shot by her husband and he was inside with the two daughters. sheriff officers rushed in the house. inside they found the body of 37-year-old carlton goodwin. this is him in the twitter picture. he had killed himself. up stairs they found 4-year-old laila goodwin and in a bathroom 17-year-old lashelle goodwin suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. she died a short time later. at this point, investigators have found no motive and are unaware of a history of problems in the home. >> we did a cursorary search in the data base and we

haven't found we responded to any calls. brad: when we come back at 5:00, we will tell you more about the 17-year-old girl who died here in this community last night. we talked to her vice president and a friend from high school. brad bell, abc7 news. alison: thank you. the tennessee school bus driver who was driving a bus that hit a tree killing six kids appeared in court today. johnthony walker pleaded not guilty to vehicular manslaughter charges. authorities said walker was speeding in november when he swerved in the tree. there were 37 kids on board. several children were injured, too. walker was also charged with using an electronic device while driving. his next court date is set for april 19. michelle: a guilty plea today from the man who says he started shooting inside a d.c. pizza shop after hearing internet rumors about a child sex traffiin

stephen tschida was in court when edgar welch made a deal. stephen: today, 28-year-old edgar welch pleaded guilty to driving to d.c. from north carolina december 4. he admitted to going to comet ping pong pizza and asked with an assault rifle and handgun. customers, employees could clearly see the weapon. they fled. he then shot up the place. in a quest to free fictitious child sex slaves based from a fake news stair he read online. he pleaded guilty for transporting firearm and ammunition across state lines and assault with deadly weapon. this comes from what employee said happened. he pointed the rifle at the employee a

you have had heard me say it before. moving from opposition to governing party comes with growing pains. we are feeling the pains today. we came close but we came up short. i spoke to the president and told him the best thing to do is pull the vote. he agreed. i won't sugar coat this. this is a disappointing day for us. doing big things is hard. all of us. all of us, myself included, will need time to reflect how we got to this moment and what we could have done better. but ultimately it comes down to a choice. are all of us willing to get something done. are we willing to say yes to the good, the very good, even if it's not perfect? if we are willing to do that we have an incredible opportunity in front of us. the

a setback. the question now remain what is will happen with obamacare as it exists today. we are airing this news conference live on our sister station, newschannel8. michelle: seven people were inside this house when it caught fire earlier in woodbridge. suzanne kennedy was on the scene while it was still smoldering. suzanne: prince county firefighters remain on the scene of the house fire hours after it started. it's still smoldering and the house is a total loss. this is what it looked like when firefighters arrived around 2:30 this morning. they say the entire house was on fire. the blaze started by improperly discarded smoking materials left on the front porch. seven people were home at the time. fortunately they were able to get out safely.

top side, connecticut avenue could be worse. a bit of volume there for sure but not as bad. at father hurley boulevard looking tough. the ride past clarksburg is slow. head to virginia for 95 southbound over the occoquan. that is a tough stretch here as we head over the occoquan. the lanes narrowed down. that creates a bottleneck effect. beyond this in dale city there is plenty of delays through stafford county as well. a look at 66 westbound, just off the beltway at the cedar lane overpass. we will see delays heading off the beltway. that will center off and on for centreville. it's not as bad in rosslyn. that is a spot improving heading to rush hour. on the beltway below or heading toward 66, we do have the earlier crash now cleared so this is looking good. that is all from the traffic center for now. back to you. miel

gosh, got caught in showers today. doug: you apparently were not watching abc7 news yesterday. michelle: i knew it was coming but i still got caught. alison: then the sun made a return. it was quite nice. doug: came out quickly. back and forth all day. the warmer air has been coming in, but so slowly. upper 50's now. we might get in the 60's before sunset. but the key is the temperatures won't drop much tonight. 56 in northwest washington and idaho avenue. we have the time lapse sky cam. sky and the showers on the lens of the camera. this was 10:30, 11:30 in the morning and then the skies broke open a bit. warmer air on the way. it's building. the temperatures will drop off tonight but not that much. 62 in warrenton. 61 in leesburg. 58 in washington. cooler to the east where it is 55 degrees in annapolis. for the evening hours, no rain. we'll get a little sunshine. temperatures will slowly, drop thro

shout out "mommy." >> mommy! it didn't work. alison: wow, that breaks your heart. paramedics were able to get to the house, though in 13 minutes. they broke in. they saved roman's mom and she is back at home with the family. his quick thinking saved her life. michelle: great ending. he knew to use the thumb. >> that is amazing. so tech savvy, even in a crisis he knew how to use the phone and siri. michelle: something to teach the kids. alison: in wisconsin, there were holder kids faced with a life-saving situation of their own. michelle: jerusalem reports community training helped one make a difference. it seemed like just one more day in high school until the

terrifying moment. sudden his his classmate starts coughing, gesturing his arms and signaling for help. he sechoking. >> we couldn't tell if he was choking or laughing and coughing at the same time. what gave it away was the redness in his face. then the hand motion to his neck. >> watch as brown a freshman calmly leaps into action. walking over to olson and performing the heimlich maneuver four times dislodging the food from the throat and saving his friend's life. >> he learned it at a police training program in wisconsin. >> i'm doing what i trained to do.

who was infallible in her advocacy to ensure everyone american would have the security of having the availability of health insurance. the bill went down today because the majority of the people in the house of representatives thought it was a bad bill, went in the wrong direction. left 24 million people behind. raised costs for seniors between 50 and 64 substantially. everybody else would have paid more and gotten less insurance. in fact, it was made worse last night where the requirements for covering essential services was essentially gutted. but the american people are still going to rely on us to have that security. i hope that

michelle: investigators say the scene was so horrific they had to bling in counselors for first responders and deputies. the calvert county neighborhood is reeling after an 8-month-old was killed by the family dog. richard reeve went to lusby for details on a story we brought you first yesterday at 4:00. >> one of the worst tragedies that the community suffered. richard: this neighborhood reeling from death of 8-month-old baby boy attacked and killed by the family's dog. >> our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and everyone involved. no one should have to endure this traumatic event. >> i have a baby attacking by a dog. >> two deputies responding to a 1:00 p.m. 911 call arrived a minute later. >> immediately in the residence and observed a pitbull type dog, 60, 60 pounds

baby. >> both deputies opened fire. killing the dog. police say the baby was already dead. amid all the tragedy, the authorities say this was a difficult scene to process. the first responders and the police officers had to go for counseling afterwards. investigators say it was an unprovoked attack, that the dog never acted like this before. a babysitter tried to intervene and then called 911. >> our hearts go out to this family. they are in dire grief at this point. richard: no criminal charges but local leaders are debate ing a pitbull ban. richard: richard, abc7 news. alison: at the white house, the officially gave the green light for the completion of the xl keystone pipeline program. amy aubert has the latest. amy: president trump announced he is giving the go-ahead for the controversial $8 billion project to be

the presidential per hit issued to transcanada corporation to build the pipeline to transport crude oil. the president called the project long overdue. this reverses an earlier decision made by the obama administration to block the project. let's take a closer look at where exactly this will happen. the pipeline planned to stretch 900 miles from canada to nebraska, where it would meet up to other pipelines that lead to the gulf of mexico. >> it will be an incredible pipeline. the greatest technology known to man or woman. frankly we are proud of it. >> it's a great day for our company. a great day for the workers that are going to get to work and local communities that will benefit from the pipeline for decades to come. >> a rally organized to protest the approval of the project is set to kick off in less than

i spoke to organizers with the sierra club today who tell me they are expecting hundreds of people coming out to have the voices heard saying this is not over. their fight will continue. rally is scheduled to start at 5:00 at the white house. alison: thank you. today, the senate voted along party lines to repeal privacy rules. they were put in place in the obama administration. the protections would have required internet service providers to get your permission before collecting or sharing any of your data. they also would have had to tell you about what kind of information was being collected or shared. still to come, out of the cage and into the public eye. we will check in our friend bao bao. that's next. michelle: but first, here is autria godfrey with a look at what is coming up monday on "good morning

president trump: thank you very much. we were very close. it was a very, very tight margin. we had no democrat support. no votes from the democrats. they weren't going to give us a single vote so it's a very difficult thing to do. i have been saying for the last year and a half that the best thing we can do politically speaking is let obamacare explode. it's exploding right now. many states have big problems. almost all states have big problems. i was in tennessee the other day and they have lost half of those with insurance. that is happening to many other places. i was in kentucky the owe daym similar things are happening. obamacare is supporting. with no democrat support, we couldn't get there. we were a small number of votes short to get the bill passed. a lot of people don't

they were looking at phase one. but when you add phase two, mostly the signing of secretary price, who is behind me and you add phase three, which i think we could have got it, it became a great bill. premiums would have gone done and been stable and strong. that is okay. we were very, very close. again, i think what will happen is obamacare unfortunately will explode. it will have a very bad year. last year you had over 100% increases in various places. in arizona, i understand it's going up rapidly again like it did last year. last year was 116%. many places, 50, 60, 70%. i guess it averaged, whatever the average was, very, very high. this year should be worse for obamacare. so what would be good with no democrat supports, if the democrats when it explodes, which it will sn.

and got a real healthcare bill, i would be totally open to it. i think that will happen. i think the losers are nancy pelosi and chuck schumer because now they own obamacare. they own it. 100% own it. this is not a republican healthcare. this is not anything but a democrat healthcare. they have obamacare for a little while longer until it ceases to exist, which it will at some point in the near future. and just remember this is not our bill. this is their bill. when they all become civilized and get together and try to work out a great healthcare bill for the people of this country, we are open to it. we are totally open to it. i want to thank the republican party. i want to thank paul ryan. he worked very, very hard. i will tell you that. he worked very, very hard. tom price and mike pence right here, our vice pr
