command on the river. q mccray has the latest. what do we know? q: we will zoom in to show the fairway. the tape there, we are told a part of the helicopter fell on the 14th hole. the crash site is down the road, down society hill road near hole three. we look at the society hill road, you notice the cars. those are the people who live in this area. many of them are being asked to show proof of i.d. to get into the neighborhood. getting through here is a task in its. the military has shut down the golf course as they investigate this crash landing. according to the fort belvoir military, we spoke to officials and they told us the black hawk, the army helicopter crash landed here near the third hole at 1

this afternoon. on that helicopter, three crew members. we know at least one of them was known to a nearby hospital. what we do not know is the medical condition. how are they doing or their names. that is information we are trying to get as we speak. when it comes to the golf course, there were witnesses out here. we were hoping to speak to one but we were turned away by the military police. they tell us the -- the witness, that is, he told us he saw the helicopter coming down and it was spinning. spinning around before it crash landed near the third hole. you will notice in the distance, police. they are making sure that no one makes their way to the golf course here. at one point they were turning people around on the society hill road to make them turn around and go back up the roadway. but again we are in the letter town, maryland, and st. mary's county, southern maryland. this is a big story. this is a big

the fact they are not letting people return home without proof of i.d. is proof of that. that's the latest. i'm q mccray. back to you. jonathan: thank you. from the video, a lot of people came to help to get the crew members off of what was left of the black hawk. the uh-60 blackhawk that went down today have gone down in the past. the helicopters aren't cheap, by the way. the abc7 i-team digging in the history of the black hawk. scott taylor has more on what he found. scott: dating back to 1993, the chopper has had its issues. it is used for specific missions, including protecting the troops on the ground and transporting them to safety. it really flies. the uh-60 black hawk first rolled off in 1974 but didn't start flying for the army until five years later. the navy, air force and the coast guard have their own variation of

last night. this ended just before 2:00 a.m. today. jonathan: a gas line fed a fire in temple hills. the firefighters needed shifts in the battle in the afternoon. they were able to get out and nobody was hurt. tonight, hyattsville is holding the second vote to make the city a sanctuary city. it will take place in an 8:00 meeting. the first vote was 8-2 in favor of becoming a sanctuary city. we'll have an update at 11:00. michelle: a maryland state senator is drafting a bill to stop police dragging passengers from the airline seat. this is in response to the viral video of a man pulled from the united airline flight. the proposal is expected to be at a special session of the general assembly or when it starts in january 2018. jonathan: drizzly monday

follow breaking news there southern maryland. military helicopter crashing on a golf course this afternoon. the helicopter came from fort belvoir. that is where kevin lewis is live for us with the latest. what have you learned? kevin: three people were on board the uh-60 blackhawk helicopter. we are just learning that two crew members were medevaced from the earlier report of only one crew member being medevaced. at least one going to baltimore shock trauma. we do not know the condition, however, of the third crew member on board. let's take a look at the video from the scene. you can see the manglalled helicopter in -- hangalled helicopter in the video. the crews climbing on top and working to help out. the latest information coming in. fort belvoir army base saying it is one of the helicopters. adding that the chopper made a hard landing before 2:00 this afternoon. the witness reportedly
