happened here. according to a milliontary official, this -- military official, this u.s. army helicopter crash landed on the third hole. through crewmembers were on board. two were medevaced to a hospital. we are waiting to see what happened to the third crew member. we are working to get the information for you as well. again, this is leonard town. quiet and a close knit community. everybody knows each other's name. we spoke to an eyewitness who says that he was baffledded. he has never seen this. take a listen. >> you see it on tv all the time. you think it's cool. it's not. it's not. nothing good about it. q: so again, we are waiting right now to get the latest

crew members. and the medical conditions. once we get the information we will bring it to you as soon as possible. until then that is the latest live from leonardtown. i'm q mccray. back to you. nancy: thank you. the helicopters are the main stay of the short range transportation for the army. modified versions of the aircraft are in use across branches of the military. the senior investigative reporter lisa fletcher joining us from the "live desk" with more on the crash history of the blackhawk. lisa: the blackhawk is the army front line utility helicopter that is used for air assaults and evacuation. it's a workhorse and considered dependable. especially in extreme conditions like sand, heat and bad weather. given that 4,000 of these have been built and rotated in and out of the service since 1979, there are bound to be accidents. at least 60 soldiers were killed in crashes in blackhawk s in noncombat

outside of fort belvoir where the helicopter took off from. what can you tell us? kevin: this information just coming down in the last five minutes. the military called it a hard landing. a number of people say it looks like a crash. one confirmed dead. this was stationed at the davidson airport. it was conducting a ro teen training flight. something went wrong. two of the injured crew members or the two injured crew members one is in serious.

they are both at the hospital. the names will be made public after the family is notified. it's still under investigation. the team from the army combat readiness center is expected to be on the site tomorrow. the commanding general saying he is saddened. this is a loss to the communities. there is one of the three individuals on the u.h.-60 blackhawk helicopter confirmed dead. we don't know what brought the shopper down. it was spinning and that there was a cloud of dust that
