where fairy tales and dreams come true. >> announcer: from abc news, this is "world news now." >> we begin with details in the rampage in fresno, california. a man police say was angry with white people and the government charged in connection with four murders. >> in fact three of the victims all white males shot to death. the suspect also believed to have killed a security guard last week. investigators say the murders were not terrorism related. but rather, about race. abc's correspondent is following developments from los angeles. >> this is solely based on on race. and -- it has nothing to do with terrorism. >> the shooting spree starting just before 11:00 tuesday morning. >> getting reports of multiple gunshots incidences in the downtown area. >> 16 shots in multiple locations. police say this man, 39-year-old, kori ali mohammad. walked up to

north vanness, allegedly shooting the passenger. and then ape f few second later shot and missed some one, turning on fulton street, firing and killing another man. police say he reloaded at a bus stop, shooting two people and killing one. the rampage ending when police apprehended mohammad, hand cuffing him, searching his pock else before taking him to a patrol car. police say they have been looking for him since last week when he allegedly shot and killed a security guard at local motel 6. >> as he was taken into custody, he yelled out, ali-akbar. police calling the shooting a random act. he made a decision to himself that he was not going to go to jail for shooting a security guard. that he was going to kill as many people as he could today and that's what he set out to do. >> reporter: again, authorities say this was not an act of terrorism. but solely based on race. muhammad charged with four counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder.

meantime, the manhunt in ohio so-called facebook killing came to end in a western pennsylvania street. >> police say, steve stephens, shot and killed himself yesterday while trying to escape troopers in erie. he had been on the run since sunday when police say he murdered a stranger in cleveland. then posted the video of the crime online. >> facebook founder, mark zuckerberg, addressed the killing in silicon valley. he said his company has a lot of work to do. he says we will keep doing all we can to prevent tragedies like this. former president, george h.w. bush in the hospital again this morning. we are told he is doing well. the 41st president, admit fried day for recurrence of pneumonia resulted in a persistent cough. the cough didn't allow him to get proper rest. mr. bush's spokesman says the 92-year-old is recovering and is in good spirits. he does remain in the hospital though for observation. >> breaking overnight, a closely watched congressional election

run-off. jon ossoff led the pack of 1 candidates after raising $8 million. he won 4% of the votes for a seat held by republican for nearly four decades. he will face off against, again, with, his closest republican come tet pour on june 20th. the race was seen by many as a referendum on president trump. the president was back on twitter overnight, portraying it as a republican victory. >> before that, president trump signed executive order pushing his initiative to buy american and hire american. president trump promised to make sure more products are stamped with the words made in the usa. but his america first campaign doesn't always apply to his own dealings or his family's. abc's brian ross found out. >> reporter: before a cheering crowd at a wisconsin factory, the president signed an executive order, to tighten requirements that federal agencies buy american. >> the policy of our government is

aribella singing chinese song mandarin to president chi. an encore performance of an earlier video that had gone viral in china, posted by her mother and played more than 2 million times. certainly not bad for the ivanka trump brand. her lawyer says federal ethics rules did not require ivanka trump to skip the meeting with the chinese president because she has business interests in his country. the lawyer says in the future it will be up to ms. trump and white house lawyers to decide if there is a conflict. brian ross, abc news, new york. the pentagon is reporting some direct contact with the russian military. it says two american jets, jets, intercepted a pair of russian bombers flying in international air space over the gulf of alaska. incident took place monday about 100 miles south of kodiak island. the russian bombers flew away after being escorted by the u.s. fighters for ten minutes. the first interception of russian air craft off the

years. the united nations is warning that the ongoing battle for iraq's second largest city could result in a humanitarian catastrophe as isis hangs on to parts of mosul. up to half a million citizens, civilians remain trapped inside neighborhoods still controlled by isis. iraqi government forces are trying to be, to clear out the safe corridors and make way for evacuations. >> decade's long kidnapping case has grabbed national headlines, has finally come to a close. pedro hernandez sentenced 25 years to life for killing a 6-year-old boy vanished in new york in 1979 as he walked to school. his body has never been found. patz became symbol for missing children. his face was one of the first to appear on a milk carton. patz's father told hernandez in court i will never forgive you. >> new details about the deadly attack on a jogger in massachusetts. google employee, was found dead in the woods near her

doing more harm than good. >> why don't you say this to me when i was alive? >> reporter: series based on the young adult novel of the same name, co-produced by selena gomez, centers around hannah baker who takes her own life after leaving audio recordings for the 13 people she claims contributed to her death. >> i am about to tell you the story of my life. >> reporter: now suicide prevention groups saying the show glamorizes suicide. the second leading cause of death among those ages 15-34 according to the cdc. >> my fear about the show. they're going to watch this, and they're not going to reach out for help. because they're going to feel as though, there is no reason to. >> reporter: suicide prevention experts adding the show doesn't offer any strategies for coping with thoughts of suicide. or, alternatives to taking one's own life. >> it is really important for people to know that about 90% of the people that die by suicide have a mental health issue at the time of their death. they miss the mental health aspects when it
