breaking news out of georgia, special election, gained national attention is heading for a run-off. >> 30-year-old democrat, jon ossoff, fell shy of the 50% he needed to win the congressional seat in the hand of republicans nearly 40 years. >> president trump had launched a twitter attack against ossoff. overnight he did so again. despite major outside money, fake media support and 11 republican candidates. big r win with run-off in georgia. glad to be of help. humble brag from the president there. we are joined now from washington, good morning, arlette. >> good morning, kendis, eriele. looking for a knockout punch. in a race widely consider aid referendum on president trump. now the special election in georgia is heading for a showdown. this morning, democrats hoping to send a seismic jolt to president trump fell short. the special election in georgia's 6th congressional district its heading to a run-off. 30-year-old, democratic newcomer, jon ossoff failed to win enough votes to earn a

run-off in june. >> no matter what the outcome is tonight, whether we take it all or whether we fight on, we have defied the odds, we have shattered expectations. >> ossoff expected to face-off against republican karen handel in a congressional district gone republican for four decades. previously home to newt gingrich and tom price who left the seat to join president trump's cabinet. democrats are eyeing the district trump won by less than two points as a chance to flip a red seat to the blue column. out of state democrats poured more than $8 million into ossoff's campaign. the race attracted high-profile intervention. actor samuel l. jackson recorded this radio ad, channelling pulp fiction as he urged voters to support democrats. >> remember what happened the last time people stayed at home. we got stuck with trump. we have to channel the great vengeance and furious anger we have for this administration

back in the hospital in houston this morning. >> admitted four days ago after ate persistent cough prevented him from sleeping. diagnosed with mild case of pneumonia which is what he had also in january. bush's spokesperson says the 92-year-old is resting comfortably and held for observation. vice president mike pence issued a warning to north korea as he continues his visit to japan. pence addressed troops aboard "uss ronald reagan" south of tokyo, vowing an overwhelming and effective response, response, to any use of conventional or nuclear weapons by north korea. he also assured japan the united states was ready to work to resolve the threat through peaceful means. and we're learning more about the location of an aircraft carrier, the one president trump referred to when he said he was sending an armada to north korea. turns out the "uss carl vinson" was nowhere near north korea, 3,000 miles away heading in the opposite

with australian navy. pentagon officials told "the new york times" it was difficult to roll back the story with president trump playing up the use of force. the ship is on course and expected to arrive next week. >> investigators say the deadly shooting spree in fresno, california is not a case of terrorism. detectives say kori ali muhammad planned to kill as many white people as he could. he is accused of killing three men yesterday, all white and killing a security guard last week. police say muhammad had no connection to any victims. face book ceo mark zuckerberg made first public comments about sunday's killing posted to the site he founded. the statement came hours after the search for steve stephens ended in pennsylvania. authority say, he killed himself during a chase after troopers tracked him down at a mcdonald's. he had been on the run since investigators say he shot a great grandfather in cleveland at random. then posted the video online. zuckerberg took his company task.
