michelle: a day after a gunman killed a police officer and wounded two others the champs élysees reopened in paris. as police left flowers for the victims they raided the home. he was a french national with a long criminal record. they misidentified the shooter and the french media reported that a letter found near the body defended the group. the attack in paris comes at acil call time for france and all of europe. on sunday french voters will head to a polls for presidential election. many people, including president trump, think the attack could catapult a candidate to the front like trump himself. thief political correspondent -- chief political correspondent scott thuman joins us and just back from paris. scott: this is a crucial moment for the future of the country and

nancy: investigators identified a stabbing victim who collapsed and died on a lawn easter morning. the victim was 17-year-old te'yja chase. earlier this week the police asked for the public's help to identify chase but the police have not made any arrests in the case. nancy: now to incredible video of a daring move on solomon's island. a group of boaters towed away a burning boat so it wouldn't spread to a dock or nearby gas bump. a person was burned when the boat exploded to flames. the investigation into what caused the explosion is underway. nancy: what was once a best of seven series is now a best of three with the washington capitals trying to turn the page in the first round of stanley cup playoff. abc7 sports reporter erin hawksworth joining us from the verizon center where the caps prepare for game five. erin? erin: that is right. you know, the goal-scoring in this series has been crazy. if you are at home an

sam ford is live there now. what are the police saying about this? >> well, they don't have a whole lot of the answers at this point. we are outside the retirement center. yesterday they found 77-year-old cong huu nguyen dead in his apartment. the medical examiner took the body and reported this was a homicide and he died from the upper body trauma. he ruled it a homicide. this is owned by the chairman of the redevelopment and the housing authority of fairfax county. they said in a statement the safety of the residents is the top priority. we are now in the process of making sure that the residents are safe a
