last minute scramble to aindividual a government shutdown. president trump its approaching his 100th day in office. >> the president reportedly backing away from his demand to include funding for the border wall in the spending bill. there is no official word from the white house yet. conservative reporters who met with the president late last night said that he is now willing to wait until september to try to revisit the issue. abc's john than carl has the the white house. >> reporter: forget the 100 days milestone, the top agenda item in washington this week, may be kep keeping the government from shutting down. funding runs out midnight friday. and right now the two side are locked in disagreement over whether the next spending bill will include money to start work on president trump's border wall. how confident are-up there will not be a shutdown, can you from the podium, guarantee that there will not be a government shutdown? >> i can't guarantee -- >> how close can you get? >> they feel confident that won't happen. >> he won't, he

jonathan, thank you. trump administration is turning of the pressure on syria by imposing sanctions on hundreds of syrian government workers. the sanctions target 271 employees of the agency believed to be responsible for producing chemical weapons like what who used in an attack on civilians earlier this month. >> the united states is sending a strong message with this action that we will not tolerate the use of chemical weapons by any actor and we intend to hold the assad regime accountable for unacceptable behavior. >> the treasury secretary said one of the largest sanctions of this kind in u.s. history. and he vowed to continue to shut down financial net worked of any one involved in syria's production of chemical weapons. >> arkansas has become the first state in 17 years to carry out a double execution. two convicted killers, jack jones and marcel williams, were put to death within hours of each other last night. lawyers for williams, persuaded a federal judge to briefly delay his
