stephen: right here in front of the metro station at 4:00. that is when the students from the area schools converge on this metro station. the people use it say sometimes that convergence can lead to violence. a young man on the ground bleeding profusely. witnesses rushed to help and ask questions. >> is it bad parenting? >> witnesses say the victim was standing outside the potomac avenue metro station and suddenly a group of juveniles attacked him. beating him viciously. one of them is alleged to inflicted a stab wound. rescue crew arrived in minutes and rushed him to a nearby hospital. >> i mean it is crazy. it's sad. it's like a lot of security is needed at all times out here. this is not really safe. >> some of those who use potomac avenue station says when the school lets out it gets dicey and

>> out of control. a bunch of bad stuff. >> police arrested one juvenile. but tonight they are on the lookout for two other juveniles believed to be linked to the beating and the stabbing. reporting live, stephen tschida, abc7 news. jonathan: now breaking news we are following closely. service returning to normal after tragedy on the tracks. a person killed by an amtrak train in lanham. marc and amtrak service brought to a standstill for three hours but resumed in the past 30 minutes. michelle: a man is dead, gunned down after gassing up his car a mile from the home. it happened overnight at an exxon on silver hill road not far from the census bureau. started when a gunman tried to rob a 27-year-old outside the station. the man fought back and the gunman opened fire. police are reviewing surveillance video but so

>> it's too early to know why an s.u.v. plowed in a group of people at a car auction in massachusetts. two women and a man killed. one of the victims was a mother of three on the first day at work. sufficient was in an auction lane when it accelerated instead of going up. nearly a dozen people are hospitalized as a result. michelle: just in tonight. stolen assault rifle found in a stolen car parked outside of a montgomery county high school. police say a student parked it there. police arrested 18-year-old mario alvarado. police say the rifle in the trunk had been stolen last week. a stolen police shotgun was found. 15-year-old also been charged in this case. jonath

alert looking for david watson after he escaped custody. he was serving 110-year-old prison term. brad bell is on the scene. they are closing in on guy now? brad: they are hoping they are closing in on him but until they have him in handcuffs they can't say for sure. this started today when someone who works in the industrial community spotted a guy that looked like watson wearing a hard hat and a vest. not unusual except he ran in the woods. the police were called. they chased. they didn't find a man but they found an area where they believe someone was sleeping. then they learned nearby a mile away a hard hat and a vest had been stolen. so they believe this was david watson. this escaped convict. the man serving more than 10 o years for attempting to kill police officers. the hope was he was still in the woods. they could surround him, catch him. they

"abc7 news at 6:00". on your side. jonathan: this is must-see video. what you are looking at now, body camera from an officer out looking for two teenagers who were apparently getting trouble. he was going to make an arrest. instead he look around and one second he sees a small child standing by the pond. then he looks back in the direction. the child is gone. fell in the water. that is when the officer races to the edge. watch and listen to what happened next. >> hey! need help. call 911 for me. jonathan: now the man who the officer asked for help rushes over. takes a child from the struggling officer. this is muddy, slippery and very cold. the boy apparently slipped away from the parents frantically searching for him. he had autism. thanks to the officer's quick action that child is okay. michelle: great work. school bus burst into flames in kansas city. only a few minutes before this video.

fire. bus was filled with children. a man passing by helped the driver get all 33 kids to safetied as the bus filled with smoke. nobody was hurt. more life-saving action now. this time from a transit bus driver in milwaukee. on the route when she saw a girl wondering down the sidewalk. she realized something wasn't right. >> i'm a parent. so i knew that parent would let their children be outside in that weather. with a flip-flop and tennis shoe. no way. michelle: she was right about that. the driver brought the little girl on board the bus and called the police. it turns out the little girl was wading for her godmother who -- waiting for her godmother who promised to take her shopping for shoes. she was so excited she got up before the family and went to the bus stop to wait to meet her godmother. jonathan: picture worth a thousand words. show you this. the three teens hit the deck l
